If anybody can please explain the discrepancy of the following senario : The cost of a resent Copa flight , on a spesific day, from Costa Rica to Buenos Aires (2 legs - lay-over in Panama) was USD300. To book only the 2nd leg of the same flight from Panama to Buenos Aires was USD800??? What will the reason be, for this discrepency?

My flight got cancel when pandemic first hit, copa told me I had a year to use my ticket when I the airports open again I tried booking a new flight with the credit they gave me coming to find out that copa had issued a refund. This was back in March 2000 and we are now in August 2022 and I still don’t have refund in my account. Does someone know of lawyer?

My husband and I visited Panama in February 2017. We booked and confirmed our return flight along with some friends for March 01, 2017. When my husband and I arrived at the airport to return to Orlando, we were told that our seats were given to other people and there were no other seats available. Our friends were able to get on the flight. I personally booked the flights for all of us, so how this happened is a mystery. We were placed on another flight many hours later. At that time we were issued flight coupons for $300 each. This was a huge inconvenience (missed shift for work), but we were pleasant about this, despite being told by other people to sue the airline. Now we are ready to use these coupons as we are traveling to London. Copa airlines does not go to London. We know that Copa is a member of Star Alliance, and there are several airlines that we can use that are part of the Star Alliance. When we called Copa, we were transferred to several people and were told that unfortunately, these coupons can only be used on Copa. We were told to write to Customer Service and we would receive a response within 15 days. This is a dilemma, as we have coupons worth $600 that we cannot use. We think this is grossly unfair that we cannot use these vouchers on another member airline. We contacted United Airlines and were told that Copa will have to reissue the coupons to United Airlines. We were told the same thing by Lufthansa. We called Copa again to relay the above information and again got the "run around". Asked to speak with a Supervisor, but that person refused to come to the phone. It's been 15 days since we wrote to Customer Service and there has been no response. Tried to locate a number for the head of the Customer Service Department, but ..... guess what - "nada" . EXTREMELY disappointed with this treatment. We feel that we have been robbed, BUT, We will not give up. This is $600 not $60 We were going to use this airline again, but not anymore after this .

Last night a horror story which in not yet over. Checked 2 pres at BAQ thru PTY to ORD. Checked at BAQ 4.5 hrs before PTY-ORD but given only STBY. Because of my med issue, thye found me a seat and was last board before rest stby's, had some 5-6 open seats, but not one to my wife. Ones arrived to Chicagoat 2:30am started to call her new schedule, heh, heh, first didn't know any, then asked to call to UA, because ticketing (UA miles) was by UA. Screaming on 6th call at 6am that it's COPA's fault to denied the boarding and it's COPA's responsibilty to arrange accomodations, no, no, it's UA's ticketing, GET ME TO SUPERVISOR. Then I was given new record locator for her, which of course dodsn't open anything at copa's site. Called 15 min before the departure, can't tell if she's on that flight or bumbed again (copa don't have any seats avail for sale to ORD for next 4 days... Talking about class. Reservation/phone clerks as the PTY ground personnel, ALL, useless, arrogant liers. The flight folks fine, but God help you if you need to solve any issue with ground experts or at the phone, you SCREWED. ps. Still don't know if she is on given record locator flight.

When I flew from Paraguay on Copa Airlines in March of 2017 to the US I was allowed one 50 pound piece of luggage and one 70 pound piece of luggage. I am flying back to Paraguay on Copa Airlines from New York on August 10th 2017. When I called the Copa reservation center to get information on their baggage policy I was told that their policy had changed and now I can only have two 50 pound pieces of luggage . I purchased a round trip ticket so how is it that I cannot return to Paraguay with the same amount of luggage I came with. They said there was nothing they could about it and were very unconcerned about my problem that they created.

My 77 year mother travelled last week on Copa Airlines. She is a bit disabled because, she has arthrithis and cannot walk very far for long periods. She had nothing but good things to say about her flight from Trinidad to Panama City. However, things were a bit different when she got to Panama City. There were no wheelchairs available for the disabled passengers, even though a wheelchair was booked in advance, at the time of purchase of her ticket. She did however, get some assistance from a Copa airlines employee, who walked her to the shuttle and then to the gate for boarding. She said that person was very courteous; but she did not get the wheelchair as prior requested. My mom was in alot of pain for several days after the flight as a result of her having to walk for that distance. I suggest that Copa Airlines should improve their services for customers with disabilities. It is important to provide good customer service for all paying customers. I hope that she does not have the same bad experience in Panama City on her return flight back to Trinidad and Tobago.

I missed the 1 hour mark for my flight by a couple minutes. Due to the long line that I was in. I asked for a ticket to leave Colombia so I could go home. Those no soul having "Customer Service" Crooks, Told me I owed them $300 for a new ticket. I was stuck in Colombia for an extra day. And once I actually got enough money together I did not pay COPA Airlines because I do not support that horrible service. They act like you owe them something. I wanted to slap everybody behind that counter, they made me feel like I was a piece of garbage for even asking to reschedule my flight. I got the satisfaction of never paying them and still getting home. I know anybody else reading this must feel as though they suck. I just wish this company fails and everybody who works for them loses their jobs. They are all crappy people.

THe first week of January 2017--A woman supposedly supervisor and a young man from The COPA ground staff at the Augusto Cesar Sandino airport in Managua, Nicaragua; the most direspectful, inconsiderate, and unprofessional I have seen in my entire frequent flying life. They oversold one of their flights to San Jose Costa Rica and left my daughter, two babies and husband without their seats; even though my son in law was 10 minutes before the 90 minutes legal time for passengers that do their check in online 24 Hous before flying. They lied through their theeth and completely ignored our pleads for help and two crying babies. They keept jerking us around, they kept contradicting each other and in the end totally unhelpful. AVOID COPA AIRLINES IN NICARAGUA!

This is my experience and my mom's before her flight from LA to Caracas this past Sarurday July 2 2016. Los Angeles (LAX) → Caracas (CCS) Jul 2, 2016 - Jul 3, 2016 , 1 one way ticket   CONFIRMED Copa GSEGFK CheapTickets.com Booking ID 7VCS2V The personnel of Copa airlines asked my mother, Lilia Del Valle Rodriguez De Lunar, to wait until the last minute to be seated because, according to them, the ticket I had bought for my mom belonged to a relative of someone who works at Copa airlines. According to the personnel, my mom was aware of that issue so that she had to wait for them to find a seat for her, otherwise she had to wait for an available seat in the next flight. Just a few minutes before the departure my mom was sent to the plane with a very unpleasant gentleman who had a very disappointing attitude. It seemed that this gentleman did not agree to take my mom to the plane because the personnel of Copa airlines didn't tell about that in advance. In addition, he avoided my questions just because he thought I didn't speak English. In summary, our experience at the airport was terrible. Even though the personnel of Copa airlines was aware of my mom is an old woman they did not treat her as she deserved. Lilimar Lunar

I had no complain from Toronto to Panama flight, however from Panama to Ecuador (Guayaquil) the flight attendants were not so professional on the service, I must comment though in all flights going and back the restrooms were apparently clean but with the horrible smell of urine, which is very unpleasant despite the fact that after every flight should be a cleaning process, and it wasn't too long after taking off when I used the restroom, as well as a passenger sitting besides me made the same comment. Before the arrival to final destination the crew cabin forgot to deliver the paper for immigration purposes, which is basic in every airline. The lady sitting next to me asked to the flight attendant if she can bring a glass of water or soda, and she responded her there is no more, is unbelievable to hear that, the answer to make it look nicer should be let me check please, they really need to work on customer service skills. On a side note the Panama airport maybe an old section, there is not SOAP!!!, THAT IS NOT A LUXURY IS AN ESSENTIAL IN ANY PLACE THAT HAVE RESTROOMS.

Summerland Travel Lismore a member of Helloworld and American Express. Copa Airlines has a schedule change for a client travelling on the 31st May PTY/SJO from CM116 to CM164. Despite repeated requests sinc the 17th March to revalidate and be able to reprint the E-ticket & Itinerary like every other normal airlines it has not happened.. I have been in International Travel since 1966 & have never had this problem previously. It is inefficiency and time wasting beyond a joke! Normally, the ticket/itinerary is revalidated & everything is ready to be reprinted in a few seconds - not this drama. It is disgusting and inexcuseable.

i checked my Copa Account via the Copa website only to find 3 boarding passess and detailed travelers information (full names, date of birth, passport numbers, credit card information, gender + full itinerary details info) of 3 strangers on my account. I immediately called Copa - after waiting 30+ minutes I was finally connected to a Copa rep. I explain the issue and the severity of them putting other passengers information on my account. The guys just didn't get the implications, even after I repeated over and over again - I have detailed financial and confidential information on my account from one of your passengers !!! I asked to speak with a manager - he declined. His only advise was to write a complaint letter. BTW - after the call, I still have full access to the info - I can change flights, seats ask for refunds etc ... What concerns me most - Is what other passengers could have and/or have had access to my confidential travel information on the Copa site? What are they doing with it? I cannot believe that Copa dismissed this major confidentiality breach issue without taking appropriate action. Totally irresponsible of Copa to first let this happen and worst not rectifying after being notified. This could have extremely negative impact to passengers on a multitude of ways - not to mention country security and terrorism issues.

I just flew Copa Airlines to Brazil for the first time ever. It is the worst airline I have ever flown (and I fly a LOT). I have a few observations to make. 1. I ordered kosher food and called to confirm that they had it in my reservation. I received my kosher meals and they were stone cold. On the connecting flight from PTY--->Manaus I asked them to please heat my food which they informed me they didn't do since they were waiting for me to open the package. Not once was this communicated prior to me asking them why my food was cold. Once I got my "reheated" food, it was still cold and tasted awful. 2. They printed the connecting gate on my boarding passes in JFK. When I got to PTY, I asked the stewardess as I got off the plane if the gate was still correct and she assured me that it was. I waited at the gate for almost an hour. When they were boarding the flight I was walking down the runway into the plane when the flight attendant started calling my name. He asked me if I was going to Brasilia. I said no, I'm going to Manaus. He suggested that I RUN to the other end of the airport because I was at the wrong gate and I was going to miss my flight as the gate number was obviously incorrect. 3. The most egregious thing of all was my luggage. My luggage was checked through from JFK -->Manaus. When I arrived in Manaus after a full day of travel and picked up my suitcase, it was soaking wet. Additionally, all my clothing and other things packed in my suitcase were soaked. I asked them what they were going to do about it. They said I could leave it in the airport and they will clean it and send it to my hotel. I told them nothing doing because I am only going to be in Manaus for two days. They then suggested that my hotel send my stuff out and they will reimburse me for the cost. I agreed to this arrangement. They called my hotel and went back and forth on the issue for the next two days (although I don't understand the particulars, since I wasn't involved in the conversations and I don't speak Portuguese). I was told to bring the bill for the laundry to the airport and they will pay me when I get there. (Keep in mind that I was flying to Rio on a different airline and had to come early to speak to Copa). Once I got to the ticket counter in Manaus, they made a copy of the bill and then wrote another name and phone number on a paper. The agent told me I had to speak to yet another person in Rio who would then reimburse me as they couldn't do it in Manaus. I explained to her that I was arriving in Rio at 11pm and was not interested in going to look for a person to reimburse me for what was essentially $45. She told me she is sorry, but she cannot pay me there. To make a long story short, WORST AIRLINE EVER. I do not recommend them unless you are flying more locally, i.e., Panama.

Cops airline is absolutely the worst airline ever I am ashamed that America allows such a controlling ignorant airline to operate in our country. We arrived not even half a second late for our flight leading to the supervisor informing my family and I that we cannot board because we are late . As we continued to try an board our half a second late flight she informed us that she just ten minutes before we arrived that she let a man board his flight and that she was being generous to him how secretive and discriminating is that .

These people are stupid. At the gate, inside security, the agents set up a secondary security screening for a flight from Panama to Chicago. At this screening point they confiscated everybody's EMPTY water bottles. They confiscated a water bottle that I had used for several years and that had many thousand miles on it. Then on the flight, I had to beg for a glass of water. Later they refused to answer my complaint. I don't usually rant and rave about how I'll never fly an airline again--but I sure wouldn't go near Copa Airlines, ever. Be warned, folks.

Tickets purchased in July, invalidated by COPA, had to purchase new tickes the day before our flight, told by the agents that we would get a refund for the invalidated tickets. Sent the required info to COPA website, customer service emails and over the phone. Got an email November 14 from customer service that COPA was sorry for the treatment and that they will contact me soon. They had to do some investigatin before they would contact me. That was November 14, 2013. I started the requesto for the refund on October 12. They lie and keep liying so that you get bored with your claims... Update to my previous discussion about our pets. The only person who is actually employed by Copa worked late last night and she will not be in today. All the other help there at the Copa desk are actually employed by the airport and not Copa. So it is now 1630 in the afternoon and the only employee who is also the Manager is not in. I guess if she is the only employee and the manager, just WTF is she managing? Herself? So now another day will be wasted waiting for someone to actually show up to work. I live in Nassau, Bahamas and the Managers name is ms Carter "the missing employee who is the so called manager"

UNRESPECTFULL!! I was trying to fly with Copa yesterday night. It was like 1.30 AM when I entered the plane, flying in Business Class. I was very tired and wanted to sleep. The stewardess came by and offered juice drinks. I asked for a glass of champagne or a beer, helping me to fall into sleep. She ignored my request. After 5 minutes I called her again asking for a drink. She went away and didnt come back. At a third time I was a bit * yet. I told her to bring me a drink right now. She told me something about security rules what I did not understand very well. 5 Minutes later I was calling her again. But this time when she came, she came with 2 security guys which were taking me out of the plane!!! I lost the flight!! Her name is Virginia Delgado. No more comments.

COPA Airlines bumped us (my wife and myself) off their 11:50 morning flight 472 from Panama City's Tocumen International Airport to LAX on January 6. (COPA re-scheduled us to fly on their 6:40 PM evening flight 302 instead. We spent 11 hours at the airport.) COPA gave us a lunch certificate and a $300 future travel certificate (which we would never use because of this incident) demonstrating their admission of guilt. In two identical emails, sent January 10 and 13, we requested reimbursement from COPA for $250.80 in out-of-pocket expenses tied directly to arriving at LAX at approximately 11 PM. COPA never replied to these emails. We enlisted the assistance of a consumer advocate who apparently had no better luck than we did. The direct cost of COPA Airlines bumping us off our morning flight exceeded $300, of which we requested to be reimbursed for our two main expenditures−hotel for one night ($102.80 at La Quinta Inn LAX) and $148, the difference between our initial cost for Southwest Airlines tickets to Sacramento and the cost on January 7−amounting to $250.80. We have received nothing, not even a reply. We arrived at the Panama City Airport 4 1/2 hours early for our flight. Obviously that was not early enough as we were told at check-in that we were bumped. Why? Copa routinely overbooks their flights by 5% we were told by a COPA representative. Overbooking and bumping apparently are part of their business plan. Apparently passengers who boarded our flight confirmed the flight days earlier. COPA never told us to do that. (We are frequent international flyers, and we have not confirmed a flight in about 20 years.) COPA's policy of overbooking flights disrupts the lives of a lot of passengers (exactly 12 on our original flight) and causes their staff considerably stress. The COPA gate crew gave us no information, absolutely none. And the COPA service desk people gave us misinformation: they assured us that our luggage would be transferred to the 302 flight, and they assured us that we would get our special vegan meals. None of these things happened. COPA not being able to transfer our luggage from the earlier to the later flight meant that we had to wait for our luggage for three days after we got home. The representative of the shipping company who delivered our luggage to our home said that COPA is a major part of their business, even though it's a small airline. Our wonderful trip to Panama had this unfortunate ending. Our lives were disrupted. Our pockets were picked. But interested travelers, like you, will read this review and decide NOT to fly COPA Airlines.

I had enjoyed the flights from Copa Airlines but I have been trying to get a refund from Copa inspite of the emails and phone calls. There is no answer. They do not have any customer service phone.

Their employee fraudulently charged over $1000 to my credit card for a non-refundable ticket that I have no intention of using. I would have to fly from Miami to Panama City, stay a night in Panama City, and then fly back to Toronto from there. I don't live in Miami. I live in Toronto. I have made repeat phone calls, I been to their office and I was once again lied to. They didn't seem to want to correct the problem. They told me they refunded the ticket on the spot, but a week and a half later, nothing has been processed. Nobody seems to want to contact me back. Also, all 3 flights I took with them, not one of them was I sitting in my seat. 2 of the 3 flights were delayed and one had a generator problem that caused the air conditioning to stop working in the cabin. Avoid this airline at all costs. Nothing but problems!

Sadly, our experience with COPA only equals that of the majority of the reviewers on this website - the airline's ground staff have absolutely no idea of the meaning of "customer service" or of what their responsibilities to the people that pay their wages are. We, in April 2012, booked to fly Business Class PTY-SJO in Feb 2013. We also pre-booked seats. At check in, the agent appeared to query our tickets with a supervisor then printed boarding cards and dismissed us. On asking why we had not been given our prebooked seats, we were given the "shrug" - you know, the one that means "I don't care - get out of my face". We did manage to establish that the flight was full, and that every passenger had already checked in (this was 2hrs 57mins before departure - amazing!). After boarding we discovered that there were only 3 full fare business class pax and 9, yes, 9 upgrades from economy because of overbooking, and guess what - those 9 upgrades included 4 couples, and none of them had been seated together!! No problem with in-flight service - fairly good, even. On collecting our baggage, we see that one of the cases had had the padlock twisted to break the zip slider, an attempt had been made to open the combination lock on the security strap. Fortunately nothing had been stolen. COPA baggage services totally dismissed any form of discussion, never mind claim, about the ruined suitcase, citing "We do not accept any claims for damaged zippers on cases". What a catch-22 that is for them. If your case is broken into, the zip WILL be damaged. COPA's policy gives carte-blanche to their baggage loaders to do whatever they like - do they share the spoils with the checkin staff? We were offered USD150 voucher for future flights with COPA!! They think we would fly with them again?

Do not use this airline. We bought our tickets several months ago to travel during the Christmas holiday, we bought our tickets at COPA´s main office in Mexico City and we paid $700.00 for each ticket. We have been assigned our seats. Our return flight from Panama to Mexico City was due on the 2nd of January. When we arrived at the airport (3 hours before the departure time) we were told that we were on a waiting list (standby) and that we would have to wait for “volunteers” to leave their seats. We were on the last places of the waiting list and we were never told why we were on that list. We let the staff know that my husband (who is over 60 years old) could not stay because he has a heart condition and that he only had his prescriptions for that morning. They didn´t listen to us. They were offering the amount of $250 dollars to the “volunteers” and of course nobody volunteered. COPA´s staff were so unprofessional, nobody knew anything, we had to stay at the gate for more than 3 hours until they gave us the fabulous amount of $10 US to eat “whatever we wanted” at one of the restaurants at the airport. They also offered a voucher for $300 US to fly with COPA again. We were placed on a flight at 9:00 pm and we arrived in Mexico City at 1:00 am of the following day. Our luggage didn´t arrived and the following night they sent it to our home but with some things missing. We have tried to contact the airline and they do not answer the telephone. So our advice is to avoid flying with COPA airlines.

I booked a flight to Panama City for January - the only reason I booked with Copa is it was the only Non-stop to Panama City. I would have perferred Delta or American Airline. After reading the reviews I am sorry I did. I was so very hoping the SEATS WERE COMFORTABLE AND LOTS OF LEG ROOM. But after reading the reviews look like the seat are too small and no leg room. Boy! my husband is going to be uphappy about that! So I'm hoping the review I read was back 2009... hopfully they've had newer plans built by now!
