Connecting time of air Berlin in tegel. Is 45 min enough

Short connection in Vienna between two AB flights. Denied boarding on the second flight for late arrival at gate. Employee says I have been too slow in passing through passport and security controls. Suggested me to buy a ticket on the next Austrian flight. Seldom seen such a lack of professionalism and courtesy altogether.

Two years in a row Air Berlin lost/daleyed our luggage. The last time we spent 3 days in Stockholm without any clothing so we had no choice but to buy our essentials. Since we were leaving for a 12 day Baltic cruise we were desperate to receive our suitcases. Finally, upon the cruise line's insistance, we received our belongings one hour before sailing. Upon our return home, we wrote a letter to Air Berlin and received a nice reply on September 26, 2013 that we will be compensated for EUR 150 if we make a new reservation and send our banking information where the money should be transferred. Since we travel every year to Europe, we bought our ticket again on Air Berlin for this summer, sent them the reservation number along with the banking info. After this exchange of correspondence, I sent 3 reminders by e-mail and fax, but Air Berlin did not even bother to reply. No money, no reply, no action. We are extremely disappointed with this airline and consider their attitude extremely UNPROFESSIONAL. J.

Dear Fellow passengers, I booked my flight with Air Berlin for me and my fiance last week. I Put all correct details in my Reservation and confirmed the flight. When my Reservation came back, it had all correct Information for my Name as a passenger and my Fiance last name was somehow mistakenly Switched with mine. I tried contacting Air Berlin without any luck since their call Center numbers only work once in a blue moon and decided to resolve this at the Airport since we were leaving a few days later anyways. When we arrived at Munich Aiport, the Air Berlin employee let us fly without any issues, and printed the Boarding Card with my Fiance's first name and my last name. She was able to fly to our Destination without any Problems. On the return flight, she was refused Boarding by the local Airport staff, claiming that her Information was not correct ( even if Air Berlin had no Problem issuing Boarding Card in the first flight ) and practically forced her to rebuy a new ticket even if we had a reserved seat on the plane. Needless to say that the Aiport staff called Air Berlin without our presence and apparently got a refusal for my Fiance to board the plane, forcing her to purchase a new ticket with her correct Details. I asked personel to let me speak to Air Berlin but they refused saying that I should make my own calls on my own time. My call was not a professional Emergency and would not be allowed to me made from their telephone..They were nice enough to print the Call Center number from Air Berlin who were incorrect of course and not functioning. After this nightmare, Air Berlin was delaying the issuying a new ticket, which prompted the Airport officials to give my Fiance a blank Boarding pass with seat Information written with a simple pen, and also made them check her luggage in the plane without any Bomb, liquid or flammable device verification of any Kind. The employee simply took the bag, tagged it and brought it physically from the Checking Counter to the plane, without performing any necessary safety verification needed for the safety of the Crew and passengers already on boad the flight. We repeatadly said that we had Liquids in her luggage, so we could not take it as a Hand luggage with us. On top of that, my fiance, who is the most kind hearted Person in the word, was left crying at the aiport, wondering how Air Berlin staff and Airport officials of Catania aiport could be so cold hearted to their passengers and ruin their travel experience for pocketing an additional 170 Euros. ( cost of the second ticket ). Could anyone assist with sending this experience to Social Medias, journalists friends etc..? Even I we dont get any Money back from Air Berlin, i would like to all passengers to know what a crappy experience they are getting into. My Email is liviustsach@yahoo.fr if you need to reach me. Kind Regards

My Bag was lost in August 2013 on a flight to BCN. After maybe 6 months I've received 30% compensation for the receipts I deliver! Since then no hearing from anybody I've wrote right away this is not the compensation I agree to! My whole holidays was ruined. I've got nothing to wear, nothing to wash and no contact from AB Do you have any advice who should I contanct now to get the full compensation? Maybe any of you had the same problem. Seriously I am ready to fille this case to the police! they are acting against the Montreal Convention that you are mention, the liability for the damages is up to 1000 SDR Please let me know e.hackiewicz@gmail.com

Hi everyone, If any of you has same problem like i have ,plea se contact me because i will take the airberlin to the court and more people we are better is. On 19 th of january 2014 i arrived fr om Punta Cana via Dusseldorf to Vienna and at the airport i observed that my Tumi luggage has been hard damaged. We made a damage report and i contacted AirBerlin's contracted luggage repair company, named DOLFI1920 S.R.O. Nice name isn't it?? By the way, they are a Czech based company. They told me, that they will send a courrier to pick up my luggage. My wife has a serious security service at the entrance at Tesco headoffice and we left the luggage there. We told them, that somebody fr om the AirBerlin will pick it up. That happened few days later. A courrier came, told the security our name and that they came from AirBerlin to pickup the luggage. That was end of January this year. One week ago, some women who did not want to tell me her name, called me from behalf of that misterious Czech based company called DOLFI1920 S.R.O. and asked me wh ere is my luggage. Yes you did get the point. After two months they called me to tell me they have not a clue wh ere my luggage is. I wrote several letters to AirBerlin but nobody reacted of my complains. Please if anyone has been facing the same problem, contact me urgently. It has no costs for you, i allready hired some of the best lawyers in Germany and i made a police repport in Hungary. I promisse you, that i will take care of everybodys problem if it's of the kind My email: alex33uk@me.com and my handy number: +36707732733 Best regards to all of you Alex

It is as simple as that! You order your ticket at airberlin and notice that your nationality has been change and that the name of your wife has been change. You call - AND nothing can be done unless you pay 96 euro = 720 DKK. Nice little money making machine - and having flown around the world for many yaers - there are things to think about!!

Why does Air Berlin not make it clear to passengers who fly on their Dash 8 aircraft that the stated cabin baggage specifications do not apply to this aircraft and try to take cabin baggage off of passengers prior to boarding ? This change to published terms and conditions should be stated clearly at the time of the booking process and not left to when the passenger arrives at the departure gate !! All of us airline passengers keep our most valued items for carrying in our cabin baggage and to be confronted with this at the departure gate is totally unacceptable. To my mind it is a breach of contract with the passenger no matter how they try to hide behind their `small print`.

Did you actually take them too small claims court? did anything result from it? How to take Air Berlin to Court : Hi, I am facing the same issues. If you live in the united states don't worry. A little work and you can get your money back and the cost of your air fare refunded. Take Air Berlin to Small Claims Court. It is cheap ($45) it is quick and they can not send an attorney to represent themselves. If you have a legitimate claim you will get your money back. More importantly if enough people do this Air Berlin will get the message that we are tired of NO customer service and treating customers with no respect is not acceptable. I will provided detailed instructions soon.

I am very surprised when i have the exact same problem as described below. In NYC and it is absolute impossible to get a respons from Air Berlin. I have used Air Berlin. The personal is very good and I have never ever had a complaint . This was fist time when i checked in luggage. Warning never ever do that with Air Berlin the baggage is lost for ever and they dont care at all!

the worst airline i have ever dealt with. I've been flying between the US and Berlin about twice a yr for the past 2 years and AB has screwed me out of a return ticket 2times. when i book my return flight i make sure it is the price fare that is changeable because i am not always able to determine when I'll be returning. twice now they have denied me the right to change my flight and I have been forced to rebook an entirely new flight costing my hundreds more. I have tried complaining and their customer service agents are the most incompetent group of folks I have ever dealt with both in the US and in Germany. They do what ever they can to rip you off including 'funny math' with your mileage. DO NOT FLY AIRBERLIN!!!

Travelled from Berlin to Stockholm with a rifle case for an extra 50 euro charge, on arrival the case was broken which meant I had to evaluate the expensive rifle on the shooting range afterwards at a high cost. I filed a complaint wanting at least the value of the case in return, about 100 euro. This was one month ago, still no response. That sucks.

My boyfriend flew our cat to New York JFK fr om Dusseldorf yesterday on an Air Berlin flight. After thinking about it for a long time we decided to let her travel in the cargo hold, because we felt that would be less stressful for her. After this flight we're never letting her out of our sight again, that's for sure! When my boyfriend finally got past customs after landing he immediately asked someone where he could retrieve our cat. They simply pointed at a corner for "special luggage" wh ere my boyfriend found her, completely abandoned. She had made it through the flight alright, but they had just plopped her in a corner without anyone in sight. My boyfriend waited around for several minutes to see if anyone would show up to check that she would actually be taken by the rightful owner. He eventually gave up waiting, being tired after a long flight, and eager to get our cat home and out of her travel crate. He passed customs with her, nobody asked for ANY paperwork or proof that he was the actual owner of the cat. He brought her home and she is fine, thankfully, but anyone could have taken her and nobody would have known about it. Air Berlin obviously didn't give a * beyond loading her in the cargo hold and loading her off again, although we paid good money for her ticket and they were responsible to drop her off safely to the person who actually checked her in, not "anyone at the airport of destination". They just threw her out and left. We know from previous experience that there is no use in trying to contact someone at their "customer service" because it is virtually non-existent, so now I'm just intent on warning as many people as possible. Air Berlin does not care AT ALL beyond taking people's money and getting them to their destination with an absolute minimum of effort required on their part. If something goes wrong, you're on your own.

Here are some information to passanger who lost items in a airberlin aircraft on a flight to Tegel airport. After a 5 hour research and listening 100 times to: " please hold the line, all our agents are in a conversation!", I´m pretty sure that there is no one working - only a phone number to keep passanger calm. Since I can not accept this circumstance I made my own research called several people to get in touch with somone who can tell me if my item was found or not. For found items in aircrafts there is a service in Berlin Tegel called Globe Ground. You can reach them with this number: 0049 30 88 75 65 10 Here is my list about the numbers you don´t need to call and safe your money! +49 30 410 123 15 - only lost item at TXL Airport has nothing to do with Airlines +49 30240477510 - pls. hold the line - baggage express hotline - they are responslible to make the lost and found research but there is no one who will answer your call (see airberlin webpage service@baggageexpress.de - i guess i will never get a massage about my item) +49 30 34 34 46 46 - it´s the same pls. hold the line - baggage express hotline +49 30 4 101 75 442 - you will hear a regular ring sound but no answer the whole day long +49 30 609 111 50 - Airport Tegel helpline - they will tell you the number i mentioned before.... After all, my feedback for airbelin: it would be great if the ticket price will be rised by 20€ and you can hire a ground handler that is responsible, has well educated agents and can answer your questions. Of course travelling is a really competitive business nowadays, but I´m pretty sure your passager are grateful if the research is going easy and your lost items are sent back to you! Best wishes and good luck to everybody who is missing something!!

Berlin Tegel, air Berlin biggist hub is not from origin a transfer airport. Air berlin sceduled transfer flights stsrting from opening Berlin Brandenburg new airport. Since the opening has delayed now for years, they have to use the alternative Tegel Airport. bagage transfer is now by hand and almost everyone will end up without their bagage when they arive at their final destination. My bagage on DUs - TXL - WAW was delayed for 2 days, but they deliverd it at my hotel after those 2 days. On my inbound flight WAW - TXL - DUS my bagage was lost again. At DUS it was a desaster as all flights comming in without bagage. Queue was around 2 hours before I could get my PIR rapport. DUs handling was Always bussy on Phone line, called in 40 times a day, for 7 days. Spoke them 2 times. After 7 days they called me that my bagage was arrived and thy would send it. the driver was 4 hours late on the appointment and came in a crappy old car withtout a uniform or whatsoever!!! The worst part was that they leave my suitcase outside when it was 2 days raining. Only wet clothes, all destroyed and wet. TAKE CARE: Air Berlin flights you can book BUT, when you have a transfer at TXL, more then 1 hour, please give them instructions to COLLECT it at TXL and check tem in again for the next flight. You don't have to wait for your bagage at TXL as the belt is at your gate and the check in is again at your departure gate, then it will be for sure that your bagage will arrive. In my opion, Air Berlin have to transfer al their connecting flights to DUS and don't use TXL untill they finish BEr new airport.. and please use another handling agent at DUS!!!!

Hello, I lost my luggage while flying from Gothenberg to Munich via Airberlin. Airberlin team told me that my flight from Gothenberg to Berlin got delayed and they could not transfer my luggage to Munich flight. I am terribly shocked as I will be flying to India today and they told me that they will handover the luggage to me in India. However, I have everything clothes, brush, shoes etc.. How can I attend business meetings in India if my baggage is not arrived on time? Is Airberlin liable to pay compensation for such damages I occur in business?

I lost my baggage from Frabkfurt to Warswa as there was a stop over in Berlin..My bag was not delivered in Warsaw..and I could accept that ..but the same story happened in the return flight ..I lost my bag too and I did not get it in frankfurt ..furthermore,there was a delay in the flight from Warswa and I did not catch my connecting flight from berlin to Frankfurt..So I missed alos the train and I had to book a new train ticket.. The BIG issue come now..when I went to the ground service employee of Air Berlin she refused to talk with me in English and asked me to talk in German!!!!and refused to give me any contact details of Airberlin..she only told me to google the contact details!!!!!!!!!!!!! So Air Berlin is not only about wasting customers' time , bags and cause all this stress looking for lost bags and at end not finiding them ..but also it is a symbol of discrimnation and awful customer service... I sent two complaints since two weeks and no body answered me..not even Sorry ..Oh My GOD..it is the worst air company I have ever dealed with... Any ideas what should I do in order to get any feedback or compensation ..I am really * ,disappointed and speechless

Air Berlin lost our bags in for 5 days on our trip. It gets very sweaty in Sicily, and its very hard to find clothes that fit a very tall person in Sicily. To make things worse: When your bags are lost, you call a toll free number that hangs up on you while on hold for more than 10 minutes. AirBerlin does not answer its emails, and makes it as hard as possible for you to talk to a person. Now I'm having the adventure of submitting my reciepts.

When receiving my suitcase after a flight from Nice to Salzburg on AirBerlin, I had a bag of items missing from my bag (a bag of undergarments). I made a report with an agent. The agent told me that when making a claim, to include the receipt. I am about to make that claim with AirBerlin because I feel as if they should reimburse me for the items removed from my belongings. I have yet to re-purchase the items for fear of not getting a re-imbursement. Should I proceed with the claim without a receipt? Does any one else have a similar experience with items missing from their bags?

I lost my baggage when I went to Barcelona at Vienna airport on August 1st. I report about lost baggage to Airberlin. After one month, suddenly I have received email from Airberlin that were written "your baggage already delivered to you". But I haven't received anything. So I tried to contact them through the email, mail, fax and the Phone (4960240477510), it's impossible to contact with Airberlin. They haven't inform me tracking number until now and they haven't answer to me about my complain although I sent email to them over 10times. Until now, they haven't have any interesting about customers complaints. Now, I am waiting for their answer about my baggage.

I lost my bag last night on a flight to JFK from Florence with stopover in Dusseldorf. There were at least 15 other lost bags. It took forever but we all filled out the forms. I agree with comments here about the staff. They were overwhelmed and not too helpful. Although the woman did tell me that all bags are always found. From the discussion below, I am worried that I won't see my bag again??? I received a piece of paper with the details but no phone number to call or person to contact. I checked my bag all the way through from Florence though I had a 15 hour layover in Dusseldorf. I am guessing the bag is still in Dusseldorf. Any suggestions?

Thank you for sharing information about Omar on this site. My bag was missing for 11 days. I went to JFK and got my bag. If I had not read your post, I would not have known where to go or who to ask. It turns out that my bag had been sent out to be delivered to me by a courier but it was returned. Since there is precisely ZERO tracking technology once a bag is at this stage of the process, the only source of information was Omar. I showed him a photo of my bag, my bag tags, the highlights of my reams of correspondence with Air Berlin etc AND he found my bag in 3 minutes. He was very professional and courteous. I hope that the baggage handling company and Air Berlin make the investment to improve the processes and technology to track bags. It would greatly reduce frustration and hassle. Again, to whoever wrote this post on September 4, 2013: Thank you for taking the time to do it. I read it on September 6th (thanks Google!) and went to JFK and got my bag. Guest : On an average afternoon at JFK Air Berlin loses 50-70 bags from Transfer flights and gets delivered the same amount from past flights. They have only one Person dealing with this Problem (Omar) and while we are very glad and happy that we were able to get our luggage already one day later, this was mainly luck because it was expedited from Germany (Tegel) and we were at the Airport Stalking this Omar into getting it out of customs for us. However, we spent more than 6 hours at the Airport and heard amazing stories. Most People spent an average three afternoons/nights at JFK to personally ask abbout their luggage, nobody could ever reach anybody on the phone, rest of staff was extremely rude, made untruthful promises etc. I also heard that you never get compensation. I filed for our compensation only yesterday so I don't know. You never seem to get a tracking number either, maybe because it is so chaotic or maybe because they just don't file it because without a tracking number your case does not even exist. I think they just store the luggage some place until some customer asks for it, maybe after some time they send it to the original address or they just sell it off. I think the Odds are good that you luggage is somewhere at JFK but who knows if they will be able to localize it after such a Long time. I filed a complaint about the whole JFK organization, but I think they just don't care. Best of luck! Guest : Thank you sooo much for your message. I will do so today. Did you receive any compensation while your luggage was delayed. I spent 21 days without my luggage, and I had to shop basic clothes to survive. I just want to know if I should keep wasting my time with AB or just give up and try to find my luggage by myself. Thanks again!! Guest : You need to go to the airport yourself, contact Omar personally (nobody answers the phone) and wait and hope that your luggage arrives with the next flight - will take all night to get through customs, if you do not go there personally, you can forget about your luggage - lots of luck! Guest : Flew yesterday Naples-Berlin-JFK. 1 of 3 bags did not make it. Omar at JFK is my contact. Keeping my fingers crossed but scared because of the other horror stories I'm reading. I was feeling optimistic until I found this site!

The same experience flying from Miami to Dusseldorf: the flight was delayed, Air Berlin has rebooked my flight to Malaga to Lufthansa, my bag was lost and I am sitting 5 days without getting any response from Air Berlin about it! The SITA page is always the same - "no information about bag", in Dusseldorf nobody is picking up the phone (I have tried to call both numbers many times at different day time!!!). I have sent the message using SITA page - no response at all! Air Berlin seams to me is the "service desert" . Will consider if I want to fly with these guys at all in the future!!!

We were on the exact same JFK flight. Air Berlin needlessly rescheduled our flight from Dusseldorf to Nuremberg and we have not had our luggage since that time. The Airport ground Crew in Nuremberg said that our aircraft had NO luggage on board. The Dusseldorf Airport 'service' desk was extremely rude to us. We are now without our luggage for four days. Guest : I will never fly Air Berlin again. Was on a flight from JFK to Munich via Dusseldorf. We left JFK one hour late because Air Berlin crew did not show up on time for work ("we got stuck in traffic"). Despite the delay, I had more than enough time to make my connection, but Air Berlin removed me from the connecting flight (without telling me or anyone who was in the same situation). After sitting at the gate for 1.5 hours waiting for the connecting flight, we found out at boarding that we were not allowed to board (as we had been removed from the flight) and were booked on a flight that left 5 hours later. The staff was rude and lying right into my face: "we had to rebook you as your flight was late...." No, simply not true.

This is by far the worst travel experience I had in my life. I flew from Italy to New York via Berlin, my luggage was missing upon my arrival in JFK. An air Berlin lady filed a claim for my lost luggage and in the form she didn't write the most important thing: the file number (the 5 digit number next to JFK AB _ _ _ _ _ ). Was it intentional? did she forget it? I don't know, what's for sure is that this person should get fired immediately, as without the file number nobody seems to be able to locate my luggage. Moreover, she gave me a phone number to contact a guy calle Omar (who apparently is an Air Berlin guy in charge of missing luggage at JFK); well, if I were a caring Air Berlin manager I would fire Omar on the spot as I have been calling this number HUNDREDS of times for the last 5 days on different times of the day, and he NEVER, EVER answered the phone!! Called Air Berlin and got 2 more numbers to call JFK and the number to call Air Berlin in Germany: NOBODY is picking up the phone EVER, and cannot record a message because all voicemail boxes are full. I was also provided with 4 email addresses, wrote a desperate email asking for help and information about my luggage, didn't get a reply from any of them. So is this how you handle problems at Air Berlin, completely ignoring the customers? This company is a DISASTER, will never fly with them again and will do all I can to warn everybody I know not to book a flight with them. If anybody solved their luggage problem PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!

Guest : Flew yesterday Naples-Berlin-JFK. 1 of 3 bags did not make it. Omar at JFK is my contact. Keeping my fingers crossed but scared because of the other horror stories I'm reading. I was feeling optimistic until I found this site!

Forget about the Supervisors, they are just an even more impolite communism-style Version of the average staff member, they know that they are working for a shitty Airline and they couldn't care less. At JFK your only hope is Omar, he usually gets there at 4 pm. You Need to get hold of him, otherwise not Chance to get your bag. Guest : We were on the same flight perhaps? 7450 from Dusseldorf to JFK; we originated in Rome Flight No. 8841. We have not heard a thing, and when we completed the claim form w/the AB Rep at JFK, she just gave us a phone number to call w/no baggage reference number. If you are in NY, and have any info. please share. My personal email is: quina66@aol.com : Guest : My luggage was never transferred to my connecting flight from Dusseldorf to JFK. I have been sick with bronchitis and a double ear infection (thank you Ibitha) so I haven't really had time to freak out. I was told by JFK employees at Air Berlin someone would deliver it in 2-3 days but its been 6 days. Now that I feel better I need to figure this out. I keep calling Air Berlin but I am being told to check the airport lost and found. I mean that answer is so bad you cant help but laugh. Can anyone give me a phone number to start calling. I planned on going back to JFK tomorrow to speak with a supervisor. I am going to record the whole thing with my found and send it to the news channels.

On an average afternoon at JFK Air Berlin loses 50-70 bags from Transfer flights and gets delivered the same amount from past flights. I bought my AB ticket through my AA miles, NYC->Berlin-Palmas de Mallorca->Lisbon. The flight was delayed in NYC so I missed my connection to Palmas de Mallorca from Berlin (flight # AB7612 on August 12th). AB put me in the next flight (flight # AB7612), but when I arrived in Lisbon I found out that my bag was lost. I filed a complaint in Lisbon and also through AB baggage express service. It has been 21 days and according to the world tracking service, there are still no news about my bag. Have any of you got reimbursed while your baggage was lost, for the items that you had to buy? they told me to keep the receipts and email AB customer services. I keep sending emails, but I do not get any specific response. I do not know what else I can go! I just got back from my "vacation" thanks
