Air Berlin lost our luggage on our flight on September 6th. They finally found my husband's and returned it on the 7th day of our 9 day cruise. They have still not "found" mine. As it is now past the 21 day timeline for luggage to be found, I requested the compensation for my lost luggage only to be sent back a response that I have to wait until October 4th. We've only been able to get them to answer the phone once for us and were told that unless we spoke German they wouldn't speak with us and hung up on us. Even American Airlines (our flight was code shared from American) can't get Air Berlin to answer the phone!

Between them British Airways and Air Berlin failed to get our luggage to us in Italy on our summer holiday back in July - BA denied it was their responsibility despite putting us on the Air Berlin flight - no one at Air Berlin answered phones/emails - nothing....resorted to emailing the chief executive of both airlines....we are not at the end of September and our luggage has been declared lost...the irony - both airlines knew where our luggage was for about one month but failed to get it back to us

We lost our bag 16 days ago on a non-stop Air Berlin flight from Berlin to Rome. We have Travel Guard insurance, and even they cannot reach a person to talk to to give us answers. It was a business trip, and we had to scramble to get my husband clothes, have them hemmed, etc. in time, plus toiletries, etc. Of course, there were other things in the bag that are very important to us. What can we do??

Thanks AB for ruining 3 weeks in Italy with your horrible baggage handling. Husband's suitcase never arrived. Non-existant #s to call (really - open the phone lines for an hour in the AM and an hour in the PM????). And when one is in queue the call is auto dropped after 1 or 2 minutes due to volume. I filed a claim against AB today - will see if it ever pays. We will NEVER EVER EVER fly AB again.

What a joke of an airline, flying in from Australia to Berlin to be treated so bad, they just don't give a * .... Only has the cloth he is wearing as everything is in his bags, staying 2 hours away in a hotel he was told to fill out a tracking form, the link didn't even work. Then tried to call the airline, nothing!!! Had a professional tournament to play and no golf clubs, but once again no one gives a * . I think people forget all the organising this took to get there... Why would you want to come to this country... Soooooooo disappointed....

My Daughter bag lost on Roam Airport by Airline they provide file number FCOAB11003 TAG # AB919053 on August 13, 2015 They found bag and send back to JFK New York Airport by flight #AZ608 on August 30, 2015 So far We did not received back our bag no information no message up to today I called Airberin 49 times and send 102 e mails but no luck I do not know when they will send our bag our complain number is V123456

Uliana : Flight Palma de Mallorca - Munich - Lamezia Terme in Italy on Monday 17th of August. Mu luggage didnt arrive - the staff at Lamezia told me "my bag was in Munich and been SENT BACK to Palma" . WTF ??? Anyhow, I was supposed to get it today, on Wednesday 19th. No bag, no info on it. And I ll be flying back on Friday morning !!!! What to do ? 4 days holiday is a complete mess - no toiletries, no clothes, no shoes. NOTHING ! I must be the lucky one. I ve checked my online log file tonight - no info. Dialled couple of times to my italian luggage people- no one picked up the phone. So just out of desperation have sent them an email. 5 mins later had a phone call that my bag is in Lamezia Airport waiting since afternoon!!!. To my q-n why hasnt it been delivered to my hotel as promised been told something about "car from another city to pick it up and it will take long". As my hotel is 5 driving mins away from the airport I ve asked lady to wait for me before closing and she did. So 15 mins later I had my bag back !!! Needless to add, that "lesson learnt" and I am joining the "hand-luggage-only" society now.... And my advice - try to contact luggage people as they are unlikely to contact you first.

My daughter's luggage was left at Heathrow once (travelling with BA). I found Swissport and Menzies at Heathrow and Belfast to be most helfpul. I would recommend to try the ground company that deal with luggage.

Flew from Zurich to Naples with AB. It was a connecting flight from London Heathrow with BA. On arrival at Naples, ALL passangers who made the same journey (LHR/ZRH/NAP) were without luggage. AB not really represented at Naples air port so went through lost luggage at baggage arrival to fill a form. Staff very unhelpful. The contact information for AB on the paperwork they gave us is great, no one answers th e call. From AB website seems they're not intrested in the issue or claims etc until 5 Days have passed, leaving baggage company to deal with it. So far received one of the bags back. The small daysack which contained shoes and shower stuff and makeup. Holiday is ruined and this company is incompetant. Would be inttrestwd to hear from anyone who has received luggage back or had to make a claim, what their experience was.

We flew from Helsinki to Berlin to Vienna on 3/8/2015 and they lost our two luggages and now is 11/82015, we still have no trace of them. No one answer the phones and emails. We basically have nothing in vienna and we have our trip coming up to sweden.... we don't know what to do, we just like to have our baggages back~~~~~~~

I flew from Air Berlin from Düsseldorf to Copenhagen on 4 Aug and my checked-in baggage is lost. Today I filled the baggage inventory form. I had a lots of summer clothes in the bag and I really prefer they find my bag. Does anyone know what's their compensation standards?

Hi again. Don't know if it's any consolation but I just recieved a call from Copenhagen baggage service and they are on they're way to deliver my luggage now. So all of you who flew with Air Berlin from Düsseldorf to Copenhagen Wednesday morning the 5th of August - there is hope. Just wanted you to know :) 2½ days of waiting restlessly is over.

Hi I would like to share some of my flying experiences with Air Berlin. Actually I flew with them 2 times and the latest was on 28th of July 2015 fr om Abu Dhabi to Berlin. I was waiting for the restroom for really a long time( I guess it was in the morning and ppl just woke up)->Here is the hint->everybody was hungry as well from the long flight and desperate for a breakfast. And then the crew started to deliver meals and the female crew was stuck in the corridor so I could not pass through. Then another male crew showed up and asked me to sit in front of the restroom wh ere there is a seat for the crew. Later the female came and asked me what she could help and I explained to her I could not pass through so I was asked to sit here to wait and she was like unhappily saying that is her seat and I could not sit there...Ok it is not done , and then I was back to my seat and I had no idea why she did not put anything at my seat while I already left my book at the seat suggesting that there was a person sitting here...I was one of those who were desperate for a breakfast as well... I flew with couples of airlines and Air Berlin is seriously the worst I have ever taken. I flew with them last time again since I had no choices during the time and I ordered the ticket at the last moment. I personally really suggest not to fly with them if you have options.

After calling 20 times on Monday, I got ahold of a guy who said it had arrived at a different terminal and they'd be delivering it. A day later: nothing. Called again and finally got ahold of a woman who said it was still in Dusseldorf. WTF? How did Germany ever organize enough to invade Poland?

Guest : I was on that plane too my bag is also missing... As of now, since we arrived in Copenhagen 4 Air Berlin planes has flewn fr om Düsseldorf to Copenhagen. Each of all could have had our luggage with them, but we haven't got any trace of them at all still! No one to talk to, and no wh ere to go to. They are playing us around.

Air-choked Steve : Today me and my girlfriend flew from Saigon to Abu Dhabi connecting to Düsseldorf with Etihad Airways - Partners with Air Berlin who flew us from Düsseldorf to Copenhagen. The plane to Düsseldorf was a bit late but still in time to make it the Next flight to Copenhagen. When we got off in Düsseldorf - Air Berlin stood waiting and rushed us through the airport to the next plane. We asked about our luggage and the answer was "It's properly not gonna make it". I just can't believe that they were that indifferent about it. We got to the plane early enough as people were still boarding, so all of us from the previous flight - now going to Copenhagen got on the plane and prayed that our luggage would make it. I got in my seat and looked out the window and saw that the plane's luggage drop-ins were still open and a cart went rushing towards with about 10 pieces of luggage and began to load the plane. Then somebody else comes and interrups them and they just onloaded it again. I asked an Austrailian woman sitting next to us what her luggage looked like, she told me and i could see it being unloaded outside. Unbelievable! We got to Copenhagen 5 minutes before Schedule and - YES! None of us coming all the way from Abu Dhabi got our luggage now. All of us went to report it and the guy working there told us "Everytime Air Berlin has a connecting flight to Copenhagen we get 18 people or so missing their luggage". WHY AIR BERLIN, WHY?! We travel WITH our luggage! What's the point? So we all feel the same frustration. Can't really do nothing but wait and complain on the internet. We want our stuff! It doesn't really matter whether you wait for connecting travellers if you simply just can't travel us.

Guest : They left me - a pregnant woman with no clothes and absolutely nothing to wear for 4 days already. They lost my baggage 07/30/15 today is 08/02 and it is still nowhere to be found. NO ONE PICKS UP THE PHONES, no replies to my email - absolutely nothing !!! i am spending hours daily to speak to someone who is willing to help me and no luck. I have an appointment with a lawyer in three days and it is time for a lawsuit !!!! Absolutely the worst company ever Can we do this together? Perhaps a civil lawsuit is in order. We should just start collecting names. They lost mine on 07/25/2015 and today is 08/05. An women took my information and gave me a carbon (Airberlin letter head) missing all sorts of basic information like the PIR. She signed SWE. A guy named Omar called me 3 days later and said he had the bag and told me to text him the address I needed him to send the bag to. After that, I got the same results you did. No bag. Same story here, 8 days without lu ggage. Had to buy everything again. Now trying to claim the 50Euro per day allowance. Don't be surprised but it's complicated and I think that's the method to their madness make it hard for you, so you go F$@/ it, not worth it and give up. They don't answer emails, their luggage tracing system is not updated and they don't put the correct description of your bag in, as you can see I could go on. If it wasn't for my partner getting onto Virgin airways in Sydney and had them correct things and take ownership, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have got my bag.

Did you get your baggage back? Janev0 : We are in the same problem!!!!! We travelled from Berlin to Stockholm ( my parents and I) and they lost our two luggage. We don't know what to do if we start buying things or just wait. We have no clothes at all and we are leaving tomorrow for a cruise through all Scandinavia !!!!! (Notice we travel from Spain so we have like dresses and flipflops.). What should we do!!! gambit3rd : My sister went from Berlin (Germany) to Naples (Italy) with a single luggage, no travel insurance. About 23 KG, five days have passed and no news. She went back to the airport to check but seems to be no real representative in Naples airport. So she have to send a letter to AirBerlin in Germany which will look FURTHER (?) into the problem and will take a month or two to try to find the luggage. Are you serious? She had almost all of her clothes in there, now she have to rebuy everything. No one told us if we will get a refund for sure and no info can be obtained. Any chance to have something back? :/

To WHOM IT MAY CONCERN... It seems to be impossible (for Air Berlin Service Team) to make correction of invoice for already paid air tickets. My company paid all 4 tickets by Mastercard and during booking process I wrote into their standard online form the name of the company and address. I do not understand why the invoice was send to address of one of passengers instead of address of my company which paid air tickets. I sent an official request (using standard form of AIR BERLIN online procedure ) for correction of invoice address with all necessary enclosures almost 1.5 months ago. Instead of corrected invoice a received their several "BLA BLA BLA" answers of how seriously they work on my complaint but with ZERO effect. Change of invoice address and sending of corrected invoice can take 5 minutes as maximum, and not 45 days !!!. For quick tracking of my request I offer identification codes given to me from Customer Service Dept of Air Berlin. Complaint code = V1281975 Air Berlin specialist, responsible for this concrete complaint: Kristin Vergien, Guest Relation Team PS: By the means as quality professional ( I am EOQ Quality Systems Manager ) I must say that customer complaints system of Air Berlin doesn´t work properly - as presented via www and content of answering letters to customers. Actual system is NOT user friendly because doesn´t appreciate customers´time I hope that my negative experience related to invoice processing will be the last one and no other customers will suffer in the future. Booked a flight, cancelled after one hour and was still charged. Trying to get a contact - impossible. Phones are not working, my e-mail was sent back, said it was not possible to send it, I want my money back. Any advice?

From London, connected in Dusseldorf on 7/15via Air Berlin to Venice. One of our bags didn't make it (with all of my husband's clothing & personal effects, books bought in London, and gifts for friends we're seeing in Milan & Rome. We were given a lost luggage form to fill out, but 4 days later, still no luggage and nothing but a mere 'still tracking' status on the web. We are already leaving Venice for the next leg of our trip and who knows if we ever will get the luggage back. Worst is that you can't even get through the automated calling system to try to speak to a real person. How can an airline lose a luggage and take days to try to find it???? Their customers/passengers are at their mercy, they have no sense of urgency and they simply don't care! How can they remain in the airline service business when they can't even deliver on the basics of airline service!!!!!

Lost my back in Dusseldorf. After three days and two nights, they called me and flew my bag to Oslo and delivered to my hotel. I was upset about losing my bag but impressed on how they got it back to me. They can do it if they want. Hopefully they are getting better.

Be careful if you book on the Air Berlin website! if you book a flight and click on the date on the calendar it may automatically convert the date from European to US settings. I clicked on the calendar date July 11, but managed to book a flight on November 7! I talked to the Air Berlin "help"desk, who informed me that it was my mistake, as it was due to the fact that I must have set US as my country setting on the website. In reality, it was set at "no country selected". But more importantly, what system would convert a date if you choose a date that is shown on a monthly view of a calendar???? I have submitted a complaint through the AB website, but have not received any answer so far. It has also proven impossible to find a phone number to reach AB.

Air berlin lived up to the hype of losing luggage on a massive scale 100 bags in keflik in iceland today. This is on top of the 100 last week. They cannot be trusted to deliver your luggage use them at your peril

This airline is the worst I have flown EVER, arrived from the states on Delta Airlines, Delta confirmed twice my bag was on the plane arriving in Dusseldorf. Connecting flight to my great dismay with Air Berlin, they were SUPPOSED to transfer my bag to my connecting flight to Berlin with the agreement they have with Delta even though they are not partner airlines (which is probably the underlying problem here) it's been 24 hours, no bag, here on 3 week business trip and have to start work tomorrow, sitting here in my smelly shorts that I arrived with and still no freakin bag!! The customer service is ZERO with Air Berlin, after waiting hours In long lines in the baggage claim area in Dusseldorf and Berlin I receive the same BS, sorry sir your bag has not been scanned into our system yet. Well 24 hours later on their crappy website for lost baggage I still get the same notice "Still tracking bag" How can they still be looking for a bag that arrived at 8:00am the day before?? If I don't get my bag today I am screwed, how shall I work, in my dirty underwear??This airline is a complete disgrace and it would be out of business in the USA in about 1 year, I am very surprised that this airline is still in business in Germany! You have your warnings like the rest of these posts, DON'T FLY THIS AIRLINE! if enough people take this warning seriously they will be out of business in 1 year with no revenues to sustain the business which would be the best thing for all consumers looking to be treated right and get what you pay for in the end which is take me from point A to point B INCLUDING MY BAGS, I think that is the fair minimum expectation for your fare.

they lost my luggage and it has been 3 days since i arrived in nyc from dusseldorf and no one returns my calls i have lost hope of ever seeing my bag again. as for compensation no one ever answers phone i am going to try my credit card to see if i have any better luck with them NEVER fly this airline.
