ropic Air does not overbook flights. We use 14 passenger Cessna Grand Caravans to service this and other small airstrips in Belize. We add aircraft to a flight as necessary to service those flights where we have more than 14 passengers. With the large number of tourists leaving at the same time we sometimes have up to 5 aircraft on one flight. We regret that Mr. Hutchens could not be accommodated on the first aircraft, but it is necessary to use small aircraft in this environment. Steven Schulte, CEO email: steve@tropicair.com

Tropic Air in Placencia uses a despicable and dishonest method for overbooking. They give you a re-usable color coded boarding pass for the next flight instead of the flight you believe you will be boarding, and do not tell you the flight is overbooked until the aircraft is taxiing for take off. Meanwhile, you sit there stressed out to the max as you watch the flight take off. Then they inform you that you have a seat on the next available flight. Meanwhile, you cannot change your plans because your baggage is on that flight. If you have connecting boat schedules, you are in a real pickle. It is not a mistake, it is by design because you are now committed to getting where your baggage is. When ask to put your bag on the returning aircraft, they non-complied.
