On 21 May 17 I departed Yaounde for Freetown and transited through Abidjan. On collection of my luggage at Freetown, I saw that my bag was opened and my Microsoft Surface Pro 4 missing. I sent an email to the airline to lodge a complain and they couldn't even acknowledge the receipt of my mail let alone arrange for the restoration of my missing item. Sad.
My experience with the airline is not palatable at all. I departed Lagos for Freetown January 8, 2017 and since then my checked in luggage has been missing. I am writing about my experience with both Air Côte d'Ivoire and South Africa Air. My husband and I had the following itinerary: Sat, Dec 3 8:00 PM GMT ABJ to ACC Air Cote D'Ivoire 500 Arrive Accra (ACC)9:00 PM GMT Terminal 1 Dec 3 10:30 PM GMT ACC to JNB South African Airways 53 Arrive Johannesburg 6:20 AM SAST Terminal A, Then 8:45 AM SAST JNB to DUR South African Airways 539, Terminal B Arrive Durban (DUR) 9:50 AM SAST Unfortunately, the initial flight (Abidjan-Accra) was delayed due to a storm. We arrived in Accra at 10:00 pm. We notified the head steward in business class that we had a tight connection and we were under the impression that he was going to help with the transition. We had to wait at least 10 min. after the plane landed for the bus to arrive. The bus driver was also notified of the tight connection. When we arrived at the terminal, we were taken in charge by Theresa fr om Air Côte d' Ivoire. She asked us to write our names and passport number in a book, then took us, along with 3 other passengers, bypassing immigration (most of us did not have visas to enter Ghana), to exit the building, and reenter from the departure side. It was quite far! When we arrived, the SA check-in desk was closed, then a lady came and sat at it. She told us the check-in was closed for our flight. We could hear the boarding calls for it, but she kept saying there was nothing she could do. Her attitude was disdainful, then she passive-aggressively went to working on something else. She refused to give us her name, and her badge was hiding behind her desk. We asked to speak with a supervisor who came after the flight had left. Both of them said that they were not notified by Air Côte d'Ivoire of our late arrival. He started lecturing us that for international flights, check-in is 3 hrs ahead, and that SA did everything possible. Theresa then took us to an office, wh ere a gentleman booked us on a flight at 9am the following morning. He warned us that there were delays on that flight, and asked Theresa to follow through in the morning. She arranged for us to spend the night in a hotel, and gave us the name of her colleague William Barkloe, who she promised will let us know our status. We did not hear from him, so we called him in the morning. He asked us to call him back at noon. He was impossible to reach. His phone was either busy or turned off. He finally heard from him that we needed to be at the airport at 6pm because the flight was leaving at 9pm, a full 24 hr from the initial flight, and a12 hour delay from the rescheduled one. After we boarded, we sat in the plane for a few hours before we were told that there was a leak in the galley. They tried to fix it, but were unable to do so. So we ended up being moved to another flight departing at the same time. There were no more business seats available, so we had to sit in coach, even though we paid for business tickets. The delay also cost us the next connection, so we ended up arriving to our final destination Monday at noon. The trip ended up taking almost 36 hrs, and we missed an important meeting as a result. It was a horrible experience. We didn't get a true apology from anybody. Here are the issues that are concerning: 1) lack of communication between the two airlines, and lack of ownership of the problem. 2) transit in Ghana is dysfunctional. We should not have had to enter the country then check in again. 3) delayed/inadequate follow-through on the part of Air Côte d'Ivoire. We spent most of Sunday trying to figure out our status, and felt helpless because our only contact was not responding. 4) inflexibility of the agent for SA. It is still not clear to us why we were not allowed to board the flight on the 4th. If it was really impossible to bend the rules, at least some empathy should have been shown, and some attempt to help fix the problem. 5) 12 hr delay in our rescheduled flight with no communication about the expected time. 6) no compensation for the inconvenience that we experienced and missing a part of the meeting

Can someone please post the baggage liability policy/conditions for Air Cote d’Ivoire? they should not be flying according to international aviation law if such a policy does not exist. It means that i can place illegal substances in my baggage and claim that the airline owns the baggage for example. if anyone can put me in touch with senior personnel in this regard, I would gladly appreciate it as the airline in question has not published any such policy in the public domain.
I was amongst the passengers that boarded the first ever HF flight for FNA LOS on January 2015. I had two laptops on me during the journey but was unable to have both of them as hand luggage. I had to check one in and have one as my hand carry, when we got to ABJ there was transfer of luggage based on my demand cos I was initially scheduled to fly to Cotonou on the same day but when my flight was changed to Lagos instead of Cotonou I was given new luggage tag. On board the flight from Abidjan to Lagos we were just 16 in numbers, when we got to Lagos we were highly recognized greeted and welcomed by the murtala Mohammed airport staffs. We proceed with immigration clearance and baggage pick up. I picked my baggage and went home thinking all was well but when I got home I tried to open my checked in baggage but I noticed the zip was kinda hard to unzip that I had to force it up to open but when I opened it I was shocked that my brand new laptop checked in on the luggage have been stolen by these crook staffs despite me using padlock to secure the box. These crook staffs re well trained that they handle their dubious act professionally so that you will not even know they have tampered your baggage until you get home. All efforts made to recover my laptop is in vane because I have been calling their customer care numbers but no one giving me positive response. I boarded the plane from Kinshasa on the 10th July, 2015 to Lagos. I checked in my bag and my hi pad was cleverly removed from my bag. I never knew until I got home that day. This is bad for the image of the organisation when people employed to service the customers lack integrity. All efforts to reach the customer service to complain ended in fiasco. I tried even the customer service line in Ghana but couldn't speak with any agent. I thank GOD for the safe trip but felt bad about the incident and concerned about the reputation such criminally co-opted employee is causing for the organisation. My experience in Monrovia Liberia with Air Cote d'Ivoire was the worst in my flying time. Being over 1 hour 45 minutes earlier than flight arrival, we were told the gates were closed, yet well connected people were allowed to pass through! Only to be informed by airport staff that the airline ground team runs a scheme of overbooking. The agent on ground would not even address the passengers, the ticket does not even bear the latest check in time!... surely if this their business model all the best, and taking advantage of an Ebola epidemic to overcharge, overbook and no customer service! Cant wait for real service providers to be back in the West African route.

I flew from Freetown to Accra on 18 December 2014. My bag went missing it has not yet been found. I have all the documentation regarding this bag. I reported it missing in Zimbabwe as did 3 other of my travelling companions. Their bags were recovered, but not mine. My bag is clearly marked with easily seen personal details. How can it be missing? On 12 January my wife and I returned to Sierra Leone. We slept over at Accra and rebooked our bags (2 each) from Accra to Freetown. On our arrival, my wife's 1 bag had gone missing. We have not recovered it yet. The bag was meticulously labelled so that it would be impossible to lose, as well as indicating final destination of Freetown. Dear Management of Air Cote d'Ivoire, I kindly want to bring to your attention that my hand luggage that was collected by one of your air hostess is yet to get to me. I flew your plane on the 23rd of November from Nigeria to Sierra Leone. On getting to Ghana(on transit) the aircraft to Abidjan was small, so my hand luggage could not enter the apartment for luggage in the aircraft. So, one of the air hostess collected my luggage and my boarding pass. She latter returned with my boarding pass and informed me that I would receive my luggage in Freetown that same day. On getting to Freetown I did not see the bag. I filled a form with your staff at the Lungi Airport and have been following up. As at today your office in Freetown informed me that the bag is in Monrovia and that it will be brought to Freetown today. I have called Mr. Augustine your staff in Monrovia to remember to send my bag to Freetown today. I hope that all I have in the bag will be intact as I will not hesitate to sue your Airline if I loose any of my belongings. Thank you.

I was advised that the airport crew had left for the day and I needed to go to the city office to file a claim. False! I was told I would get the suitcase on Tuesday. False! I was told I would be called. False! This is 3 days later and no one knows or can tell me wh ere my suitcase is or when I can expect to get it. I am having to reproduce all of the printed material.
