We have just arrived back at Gatwick 22 hours late and over £300 out of pocket due to the mind numbingly poor service and dishonesty from Aurigny. If you are planning to travel to the channel islands, particularly with young children, DO NOT TRAVEL WITH AURIGNY UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR HOLIDAY RUINED. Flights from Alderny were delayed for the morning due to fog. Flights were resumed at around 2.45pm one and a half hours before the connecting flight to Gatwick. This gave plenty of time to provide at least two flights per aircraft to Guernsey airport in time to connect with outgoing flights to Gatwick. Instead, Aurigny sent all five aircraft on return trips to Southampton leaving dozens of travellers, many with young children waiting for up to six hours without so much as a glass of water as compensation for the delay. Flights finally started leaving for Guernsey at around 6.30 in the evening, well after all connecting flights had left. At no point did Aurigny staff offer any assistance whatsoever to passengers with nowhere to spend the night on arrival at Guernsey. We finally arrived at Guernsey at 9pm to find we had been abandoned by Aurigny to sleep rough in the car park with a four year old child until morning. If not for the efforts of the very kind lady on the avis car hire desk we and at least one other family would have been unable to contact a taxi or find hotel accommodation for the night. In the morning after speaking with the Aurigny ‘customer service’ advisor it was clear there were inconsistencies in the records which suggest Aurigny staff had falsified documents to say we had agreed to arrange and pay for a hotel. The advisor then refused to provide us with a copy. They could not even find terms and conditions on their own computer. The 8.30am flight to Gatwick then broke down before it was even off the runway so was delayed a further 3 hours. According to a number of regular passengers we spoke to while waiting for delayed flights, it is not unusual for Aurigny to treat passengers this way..... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
