In July 2012, I walked into the Caracas airport, where thousands of people were ready to riot because SBA had canceled two days worth of flights to Miami and still couldn't tell passengers when they would be flying. I had to buy a ticket with another airline in order to leave. I spent months calling and emailing the customer service departments in both the US & Venezuela trying to get a refund for my CCS-MIA flight, and eventually just gave up after they told me to contact phantom email addresses that no one ever answered. But lo and behold, I received a $160 refund last month, more than a year after the fact. So I deposited the check, and guess what? SBA's account (in FL) had been closed, and I was charged a fee for their bounced check! Un-freaking-believable! Yes, their flights are cheap, but not worth this kind of hassle.
