Flight from Vancouver to Calgary was delayed because they had to change flight crews. No problem, all their customer service folks told all of us who had a connecting flight from Calgary to Cranbrook. They'll hold it for us at that end, they assured about a dozen of us. Well, that was a lie! When our flight landed in Calgary, we all raced to gate 53 to catch our Cranbrook flight, but they had closed the gate. Half an hour later, that plane is still on the tarmac, but all of us were bumped to the next flight, NINE HOURS LATER. West Jet, you suck!

I waited to check in 24 hours before my flight to select my seat and get my boarding pass as I have done many times before. WestJet had pre assigned a middle seat in the last 2 rows near the toilets but was not allowed to change my seat unless I paid $34. The last 5 or 6 rows were fully occupied but the middle section was almost empty. I did pay but it left a very bad feeling about WJ. I should have moved for free after take off. I am very stupid.. or is it WJ?

Hi all, thanks first & I would like to check out something - I will fly out from YVR to LAS next Monday and i want to know if, for carry on luggage, if the size is a bit bigger, am i going to be charged for additional? FYI, i have a carry on 21" standard luggage but a bit too big vs the requirement 53 cm x 23 cm x 38 cm (21 in. x 9 in. x 15 in.) and my luggage is 54.0 x 37.0 x 24.0cm (Approx. 21.3" x 14.6" x 9.4")

Hello, It’s been more than 2 months still waiting for for their reply. As I had flight from Toronto to Regina they landed it to Calgary and booked another flight but I had something important next morning. Missed it. Had to stay on airport for 7 hours.

I have not booked my flight yet. Holding off on it as it will be with Encore. Debating on whether to use Air Canada to Winnipeg. I haven't used them for 27 years as a result of their strike action at that time(baggage handlers). I used Greyhound Air to complete my commitment for a Vancouver IndyCar event.

As a customer based on the east coast I can tell you buyer beware if you're planning to fly West Jet from the east coast in the winter. They are terrified of having any planes stuck in the east due to weather. As a result, any forecast of inclement weather results in a cancellation. They cancelled the first leg to Toronto 20 hours in advance. No rebook, no assistance at all. I had to book a short notice flight to TO with Porter to continue my vacation plans. I submitted my out of pocket expenses to WJ but of course they denied them as the cancellation was due to "weather" Funny thing is that all other airlines continued to fly and there wasn't a snow flake in the air when we took off for TO but all WJ flights were cancelled. Using WJ in the winter from the east coast is definitely a gamble and if there are any issues, they are useless. AC is significantly better and any other airline for that matter.

This is my third flight with westjet in the last 6 months and I can confirm they are very consistent. Late departure each time and while not the case with this flight, I have not missed my connector. Too many issues and excuses and no real alternatives.

Because of a flight attendant not making it and having to get a new one we were a hour late and therefor missing our connecting flight to Edmonton . We had to wait from 9am till 4 pm to continue our flight. This is very bad service and I will probably never use west jet again

WESTJET is the worst (or mean) ever airline I have booked ticket with. I seriously doubt that Westjet systematically design their process to trap consumers. My experience with them gave me a lesson that rescheduling my flight is a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE! they ruined my vacation to Cuba and about to succeed robbing my 2000CAD+ . here's the story: I tried to reschedule my vacation to Cuba, then I tried: Change my trip/ Cancell my trip on website Change my trip/ Cancell my trip on APP Change my trip/ Cancell my trip on twitter/messenge all above options redirected my to talking with their agent. fine. then I tried all different numbers, 1 hour+ everyday to connect to an agent but NEVER make it. it seems they don't have agents, always busy helping other customers. at last I submit a complaint email on their website and I was shocked by their response promptly, saying you will not receive response from Westjet because they are short of hands! stay away from Westjet, EVER!

We were supposed to fly home today from HUX. Cancelled. I checked in yesterday, then went to cancel online today and they wanted to charge me $100. Read an article that everybody who was proactive would get a full refund, so I filled out some form. Will see if I can get the $100 cancellation fee waived.

Thanks WestJet for ruining our Christmas. Weather aside, you are in the business of knowing your business and accommodating passengers with flight delays. My son and daughter-in-law missed 3 of your flights with over 48 hours of delays. They had to re-book with another airline and that too was cancelled. If you had responded more quickly, they could have successfully flown out of Toronto over the last two days. Now, the storm has moved east and we will not get to open presents under our tree or enjoy the many Christmas baking samples and meals that were to be enjoyed. Bah Humbug to you!! We will NEVER EVER EVER FLY WITH YOUR EPIC FAIL AIRLINE. DISAPPOINTED PARENTS.

RitaH : My luggage did not arrive in Edmonton. The online westjet baggage update showed it was loaded to a certain flight. Remained static with no updates so I called westjet and followed up. Call was on queue for 2 hrs everytime I called. I called 3x. No one could tell me where my luggage is. Call center told me directly they cannot help me. Who can help me? Is this the normal service expected from an airline that lost your luggage? our baggage went missing on flight from LA to Calgary . Tracking shows no updates in the last 4 days. No one at Westjet picks up the phone. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Family of 5 Trying to fly WestJet for a Christmas vacation. Delayed for over 2hrs leaving Edmonton for Toronto. To connect to Punta Cana. Made it to connecting gate at last call only to find out they gave our seats away. 1hr wait at customer service to find out we can get Delta flight to Atlanta and connect to PC. At Delta desk find out plane flight from Atlanta does not leave until next morning. Thanks WestJet. Great job. No vouchers, no hotel credit, Getting us half way. Shout out to Delta to take over our flight plan. See how WestJet does on the way home, if we get there. Never ever will use them again. Happy Holidays WestJet Owners :(

I was on flight WS112 on 8/6/22. I put my back pack in the overhead locker. Our other cases were checked in baggage. The female flight attendant rudely told us that the back pack could not be stored there and quickly pulled it out and threw it down at me. She did it with such rudeness and arrogance, there were no please or sorry from her at all. I had paid for my luggage to be stored in the correct place and I think we deserve the right to put one bag in the overhead locker without receiving abuse. I’m only sorry I have booked a return trip otherwise I would never fly with Westjet again. I’m sure I’m not the only one to experience bad manners from an attendant old enough to know better but too old to be taught now.

WestJet flights are always at least 1 hour late . They have a million excuses. Not enough cabin crew, no ground crew, weather, mechanical issues, on and on…. They are the worst experience in the air today. Can’t wait for morw airlines in canada to choose from. Hands down the worse airline ever!

Best not to fly with westjet as they will break your heart every single time. They used to be a decent airline at one time. People don’t want to work for them tet they still sell seat to unknowing customers. Should actually be illegal Guest : My wife and I lost 3 days of a 10 day Cuban vacation because our 6:30 am flight on Saturday was cancelled because they couldn't find a crew to fly the plane. We had to cancel 3 nights accommodation as well as outings we had planned during those 3 days. WestJet offered some Westjet dollars, which expire in a year. Certainly doesn't make up for losing 3 days of our vacation. Very disappointed in the WestJet response. Bring on the competition.

All of WestJet full time Gate Agents at most airports were let go and they then hired cheaper contract workers (ATS). The service went downhill from there. A good contact number for Winnipeg is 431 373 8069, its the ATS supervisor.

I had three checked luggage's, and I had cleared all three in customs and put them on a transfer belt and when I arrived Winnipeg, all 3 were lost. After filing a claim, I waited, waited, waited, over 3 days like it says before they assign a person your claim to go look, but no one called me. I tried calling their luggage lost number, but good luck. No one ever picked up, waited at least 2hr each time. on the 5th day, I received a call that 2 of my bags were out for delivery. on the 6th day my last bag arrived. I submitted a claim for $250 of reimbursement for out of pocket expenses, but it's been almost 3 weeks and I have not heard anything. Funny thing was that I dind't get any confirmation email or reference number when I submitted my online claim. I had 30 days to file a claim. I wonder what they're going to say after 30 days, oh we didn't get your claim and resubmit so we can deny it. Its been the most frustrating process ever. There is no email or address that you can contact anyone.

Have credits to use ticket.Booked my ticket .Cost me $500 more.3 days before my first flight WJ change time to the flight to my last destination.They said that i may not make my last connection so I have to cancel my flight or leave Europe 3 days earlier or 7 days later.This unecceptable.You change flight i miss my connection you put me on the next flight to my final destination

What is the protocol for a small dog (15 lb) flying cargo - too tall for under seat in cabin. Three years ago I flew from Toronto (YYZ) to Puerto Plata, DR (POP). I was told to dress her warmly because it would be cold in the air, so I put on a sweater and warm, insulated coat, but when we arrived in the DR it was HOT, and it took over an hour for me to get her, to get the sweater and coat off. Was she on the tarmac that whole time in that HEAT with sweater and coat on? Since then I have inquired several times about temperatures and protocols, and I get different answers each time. This last time I asked what the temperature in cargo would be, and was told that it could vary from -3 to +30! My dog is 15 years old. She cannot withstand those extremes. But my children insist that it can't be that bad because so many animals travel in cargo. I have offered to pay for a second seat for her, or business class, to allow me to take her in the cabin, but this is not an option, and I do not qualify to have an Emotional Support Dog. Does anyone have more information that might allow me to consider flying with my dog in cargo again? I have stayed home the last two winters, rather than put her through it, but I am 76 yo, and don't have a lot of years left. I would really like to go back to the DR this year if there is a way that I can know my dog will be OK. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My wife and I lost 3 days of a 10 day Cuban vacation because our 6:30 am flight on Saturday was cancelled because they couldn't find a crew to fly the plane. Flight from Calgary to Gatwck was cancelled on the 24th of Novemeber for a whole day. Very inconvenient indeed it however does not fall within the EU compensation zone as it is a departing flight from Canada not the UK. Is anyone in the same boat as they did not offer any compensation or apology.Flight was cancelled at te airport so am really annoyed with them when I emailed they offered me some westjet dollars that are essentialy worth less as I don't intend to use them in the future. Anyone in the same boat?

West jet canceled my flight from San Juan to toronto on dec17th, 2017 for no reason. It is only October currently so it is not an uncontrollable event : weather related. My original flight was a direct flight, now they are offering flights with stop overs which almost double my flight time plus the cost of hotel. West jet should be paying for the hotel and change in flight price, but they cla they don't have to. This is not fair What should I do???

Hi Carolyn, I and 3 friends were on that flight I just applied with west jets form and they replied in 3 days saying I had no claim but gave me 150 west jet dollars each a good will gesture I did, and currently going through the process of the claim. Did you manage to get yours?

Numerous Westjet flights cancelled on Thursday April 20, 2017 out of Toronto Pearson. Most were for Ottawa or Montreal. Delays over 4 hours to rebook passengers on later flights. Westjet hides behind runway construction event although average delay is 45 minutes. No compensation offered when requested from both Toronto and from head office in Calgary. Never again.

Worst Airline I have ever flown. Your first experience is when you arrive and they tell you that you have to use the self serve kiosk even when you know that you booked with American Airlines and you are using their "partnership" with the airline and there are multiple tickets with some upgrades and different weight limits per suitcase and you are flying internationally. I should have known something was up when I saw the flight canceled at the airport hotel but when I called they said it was on time. Long story short, 4 hour delay, missed connection flight . Day started at 5:30 am and will end at 9:30 pm with a 3 hour time difference. Flight crew never gave the passengers any updates as to the problem but took the plane on a "test ride" before letting passengers board

My flight was delayed almost two hours and there was no advanced notice. The attendants finally announced the delay after we were supposed to board and they said it was only a slight delay. Then the plane stopped in Vancouver because they had a problem with the cockpit screen. In total it was more than three hours. Passengers should be compensated. If Westjet is too cheap to ramp up staffing during snowstorms then all passengers suffer. I'm flying Air Canada next time.
