Thurs 29/12/16 (WN49) my suitcase was left behind in St Maarten. No explanation given - the flights was obviously too heavy as there were several suitcases left behind. My daughter rang several times the following day and eventually she was told it was waiting for me at the Beef Island Airport (EIS). There were no drivers available so if I wanted it I had to pick it up. Complaining to the ground staff his reply was "well, least I got my suitcase in one piece" Its not the best aitline in the world but there can't be many much worse. I have generally found the check-in staff mostly unhelpful and surly and I travel to the BVI 2-3 times per year.
We "bought" the tickets from SXM to st. barth via thieir web page. After the payment has been processed the reservation process was interrupted and we were asked to call the hotline to receive the tickets. of course - we were not able to reach anybody via phone.
So the money are gone and we have no tickets.
It is sad that an airline like this existV in today's world. It is terrible experience to travel with this airline. Public Relationship obnoxious, delays lengthy and you are expected to pay additional fees for the delay. Don't use Winair.
Our group of 22 flew from St. Maarten to St. Eustatius in February. We had a 4 hour layover in St. Maarten before boarding the flight to St.Eustatius. Because of the size of our group and the number of seats on their airplanes, we had to split up and take 2 flights. By the time all of our group got there, not all the luggage had made it. We are divers, and need our dive gear in order to dive. Several people, including me, did not have our equipment. It took them another 2 flights the next day to get everything to us. I don't know if they have never serviced a group as large as ours, or a full airplane before, but they sure didn't get it right.
On our return, they were able to accommodate us and got all our luggage to St. Maarten on the airplane. If they weren't the only airline servicing the islands, I would never fly them again.
