Anyone have any news from JFK or how to contact them? Seems my luggage was forgotten there

Hi there, I flew with Airberlin yesterday to Munich via Düsseldorf and they have lost mine and my friends luggage along with multiple other people from the plane (we don't have anyone's contact details though - hindsight is a wonderful thing) but just wondering whether anyone can provide any advice in locating them. Our original flight was delayed meaning our connecting flight in Düsseldorf was missed so we were moved to a Lufthansa flight but we're supposed to collect our luggage in Düsseldorf which never arrived. Have filed report with Lufthansa.

AZ : Did you get your luggage back yet? I am desperate, in the same situation but no replies! They lost our luggage, 2 suitcases and 10 days later there is answer from them, this Air Berlin airline should be suspended forever from flying, they don't even have customer service....never again, will never fly with them bunch of * ...les

Thanks for the suggestion about going to the airport in person. My son went to JFK today, after waiting 5 days to hear from Air Berlin, and sure enough, there was his luggage.

Still missing my luggage in Berlin. No phone number (all of which say they're available 24 hours a day) answer the phone. Trapped indoors waiting on my vacation wearing the same stinky clothes and feeling helpless and * . Don't know whether going back to the airport to look and make a fuss would be helpful or not.

Janos : I arrived to JFK on 19 June, the route was BUD-TXL-DUS-JFK. I filled the Property Irregularity Report, I was not provided any FEDEX number to track my lost luggage, but I was given a number which can be use to record your complaint and you get no answer. The JKF Airberlin also does not work as it is always busy, Airberlin America number is also dead as there is none who you can contact with. It turned out my bag arrived to JFK on 22 June, but it has not arrived to my temporary address of mine; moreover, I requested reimbursement on the same day, but I have got no answer at all. What can I do? Where is the reimbursement? Anybody could help ? I was on the same flight from Budapest 3 days later, also 33 passengers with no luggage, also no file number in the hand written report in JFK. 6 days an no luggage. Have you had any success?

We travelled from Berlin to Naples on 23 June The ground staff checked my bag to Rome by mistake It's now 5 days later and my bag is still missing To get hold of Air Berlin is impossible Either numbers do not exist or they have an answering machine This is so inconvenient and they do not seem to care how people are treated

I arrived in TXL on airberlin flight 7249 - they have no clue where my second checked bag is. They just know it was tagged in New York and never scanned anywhere else. I called both the lost and found number for JFK and the general JFK airberlin number. I was able to leave a voicemail on the general line but the l+f mailbox was full. I have sent e-mails to no avail and have visited the Tegel baggage service center twice. No dice. Does anyone recommend any other phone numbers to reach JFK? Is there a baggage service center / lost and found there and can they be contacted via phone? I am getting worried as they still don't know where in the world it is and my flight was a direct one..

Barry : I arrived in JFK on Monday. My bag did not make it. Filed a claim form with Airberlin rep at the baggage claim area. Took photo of form along with boarding pass and claim form. Have heard nothing. Called the number they gave me and once was able to leave a message. Rest of the time just get a message that the voicemail box is full. How look do I have to wait before I can file a formal complaint. How do I do so? I must have been on the same flight, same exact story, still no word and no way of getting thru.....

Worst eperience ever flying with Air Berlin. My flight was on June 21 from Tegel to Heraklion Crete and still today 27 June I have not received my bag. I have repeatedly sent messages and emails but no concret answer. Does somebody had the same experience? do you think I can get my bag after so many days? Can Airberlin give e some contact telephone that somebody can answer and tell me whats going on? One thing is sure that I will never fly again with Air Berlin and I will recommend everybody not to do so!

Same deal here. We have been stuck in Barcelona with no bags at all for 3 days now and no response at all!!! This is unbelievable. The worst experience I have ever had and reading these reviews only make matters worse. Has anyone actually had any luck getting their bags back or getting reimbursed? We have had to spend our vacation buying a new set of clothes and personal items. Including shoes, panties, and personal hygiene things.

Hi All the stories are terrible and sound the same---> standard AirBerlin practice. Now, any way to get the money back from them. How did you handle this? Please share your story. This is a very bad practise and the most terrible idea, but are they at least compensating for the expenses that occurred as a result of the lost luggage? Please share your experiences.

I was on a flight from Tel Aviv to Berlin and then a connection from Berlin to Miami on June 20th. There were 4 of us travelling together that checked our luggage at the same time. Our bags never showed in Miami - we filed a claim. Have never heard from anyone and there is nothing you can do with the contacts they give you other than leave a message. I did some investigation and did get the phone number of a woman who is the S. FL rep either for Air Berlin or the company who handles their luggage. She has told me a few times that it is coming on the next flight, but so far nothing. 1 of the 4 of us had his luggage returned now and they say a 2nd ones is on his way to our home (that was 12 hours ago). So frustrating. I really want my bag. I have filed a claim with my insurance carrier (policy for the trip) and they said they would follow up too. Any suggestions?

We arrived at ORD on June 12th from Berlin TXL. We had three pieces of luggage with Priority tags ( Dont even know what the purpose of that is!) the third piece did not arrive. Its been 11 days. They lost our luggage on the way to Germany as well. We received that 1 day later. We filed a report at ORD and havent talked to a person since. Everything is online but very generic and no one answers the phone at "World Tracer" hotline. I see someone said that driving to the airport might be a longshot. I was thinking about doing it on Monday. I heard in Germany that AirBerlin is going bankrupt, they have outsourced the baggage handling in Berlin and the airport is not able to handle all the flights going in and out because its too small. The new airport Berlin Schoenefeld is way beyond schedule by like 2 years and that's whats causing all these delays. They will definitely go bankrupt if they don't get this under control!!

Hi guys... so I was on a flight June 19 from Rome Chicago with connection at TXL Berlin that was delayed to an overnight stay. Same deal, me and about 10 others on the flight had lost luggage blah blah... basically from reading this I KNOW it will take a long time. I'm just wondering how much compensation you all received in terms of being reimbursed for clothes, hygienic material, makeup, etc in the meantime... because on the phone the guy told me everything I needed would be covered but I know another girl on the flight was told nothing would be covered because she flew home (who are they to say what was in your suitcase and what you do/don't need??) I'm ready to get a lawyer on this. Please let me know.

To everyone talking about their missing luggage...there is a glimmer of hope! Here is my story that I hope helps you. I landed in Chicago from a connection in Berlin on Thursday, June 15. My luggage was not present and I talked to an Air Berlin representative who had me fill out a sheet of paper with my luggage info. He said they would contact me right away the next day. After 5-6 days of repeated phone calls and emails on my hand with zero response on their end, I decided to drive to O'Hare myself. It seemed like a lot of people were having a similar issue and after a while they let me take a look at all the extra luggage they had. Didn't find mine, but the man, Joaquim, who I was talking to, was nice and said he would contact me if my luggage showed up. On my way out, I got a call and he said there was a lady who felt like that luggage was shipped out on FedEx the night before. Sure enough, later that day, my luggage finally arrived at my house after about a week of no response. Bottom line: if you are a far drive from Chicago, I don't think it's necessary to drive there yourself. Their customer service and entire system is so messed up that I think the best thing you can do is wait. If I didn't drive down there, I would've still gotten the luggage. Maybe after a couple weeks, then going down and speaking to a real person is a good idea, but for now, unfortunately, the best thing I would recommend is to sit tight. I hope this helps and good luck!

Same here arrived to Chicago on June 17, 2017 from Budapest via Berlin. Air Berlin lost luggages for over a hundred passengers from our flight 7420 . Kept calling ground stuff . Mailbox always full . Finally I was able to leave two messages yesterday morning. No one called me back. Call again one hour afterwards . Mailbox full again, I called Air Berlin customer service was on hold 3x 20 minutes listening to annoying music st my expense , just to talk to rude representative who told me that cannot do anything, and my luggages are not his problems. I couldn't check on line because at the airport the forms were passed but no reference number given. Btw all 100 people were waiting by the empty carousel at the air port for one hour and no one announced anything. Air Berlin treated as like a cattle no respect for their customer no accountability for anything. It was my first time and last flying this air line . Please did anyone received their bag ever? Any recompensation for intermin expenses ? Any one wants to join together and file class lawsuit against that airlines? This is ridiculous what they doing . I think this is some kind of scam . If you google Air Berlin you could see that they are notorious for loosing bags , not recommending people , canceling flights and etc? . Any thoughts ?

Same issue here. Bags gone 2 days now. Online requests go unanswered. Phone calls tell you to call the airline, Airline tells you to call the airport. Emails point you to online and fax, which points you back to email. Never ever fly this airline.

Guest : Arrived on the 14th in Chicago from Frankfurt via Berlin, one piece of luggage did not arrive. airport stuff helped filling out a "form". no claim# was issued, no copy of the form was handed out, just an AB O'Hare luggage claim#. it goes directly to an answering machine. many messages are left, but no single return call. NOTHING. Flying for +20 years professionally on a weekly base, but thats the worst airline EVER. AIR BERLIN your customer service does not exist. The same thing happened to me! Nobody is answering and I have a month's worth of clothes in a suitcase missing. The guy working said they'll call me back the next day, but it's been 3 or 4 days now. Ridiculous.

One of the worst airline was air Berlin where they had unnecessarily detained a passanger to board on plane due to stolen card purchased ticket issues. There is no evidence and proof of anything. Passanger was detained by German police and in custody for 6 hrs. They accused. It was simply reckless on their part which caused mental traumatization of a passanger. We are seeking for justification and compensation at the same time.

My husband and I arrive in JFK on Tues May 30th from Berlin via Air Berlin. Because We missed our connections in Berlin we had to stay overnight. I think it's due to this reason our two luggage never showed up at JFK. When we arrive we were given this yellow missing luggage report and A number to call but no one ever picked up. I call every possible number I can locate but never found anyone who can help me. So today 6/1 we decided to drive to JFK to find an agent to get some update. We end up locating the lost luggage section and Found our Luggagae. So if anyone recently flew into JFK go to terminal 8 arrival floor. Turn right when you enter and walk straight to an glass separator. You will find a bunch of luggage and a guy seating there guarding it. Bring your boarding pass and luggage tag. When I left there are still at least 50 luggage left. Wish everyone good luck!

Darjo818 : Saturday May 28th. Myself and my husband went on a long due vacation to Spain. As we left through Madrid to Berlin we were assured our luggage would be with us to our final destination JFK AIR PORT. We had about 1:40 minutes between flights, enough to take luggage from one plane to another. The plane was also 1/2 hour late due to reflueing. As we deplaned and went to retrieve our luggage, at the correct turnstile there were approximately 6 other people whose luggage "disappeared " . Both of ours were GONE ! Two from the same family ? NO ONE around to help ! Finally, we located a man who took our information down , gave us a number to call. After 4 days of calling numerous times, emailing them several more times. We still do not have an answer. Not an acknowledgement of or from anyone! If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you in advance We had the same issue from Budapest to Berlin to JFK. The Number has a full message recording and Air berlin gave us other numbers in Queens to call that did not answer. This is not acceptable!!!! What do we do???

It is a common Deusch practice - a passenger need to contact the Air Berlin air carrier first in order to get compensation. A failure to do so, can lead to disruption of a case or a legal collission at the Deaustch "magistrat" court. The time limit for any passenger s claim is the Deustch legislative power (Supreme Chancellor or "Magistrat") legal force.

Hi. I had a flight from Geneva Switzerland to Boston through Düsseldorf on Sunday, May 28th. The flight was delayed approximately 1.5 hours leaving Geneva. A few minutes before landing in Düsseldorf, the flight attendant told us not to worry, they have delayed our connecting flight and we will make it. They assured us this because there were ten people on that flight and said Air Berlin will not want to pay for hotels for all ten people. We went through the passport check and arrived at the gate just as the plane was pulling away from the gate. There was no one to help us. Needless to say we experienced a customer service nightmare at the airport. Since there were no other available flights to Boston, they put us on a flight to New York and assured us our luggage would be transferred. When we arrived at JFK in New York, we did not have any luggage. We filed a lost luggage form. We are unable to contact anyone at Air Berlin. We do not know if our luggage is still in Düsseldorf or being sent to New York or Boston (final destination). We can't get any information. If anyone has any helpful information, I would greatly appreciate it.

We flew business class from LAX to JFK on AA292 then JFK to TXL on AB7455 on 13 May. Both of our checked bags did not show up in TXL. Filed report at TXL but WISAG (AB's ground handling contractor at TXL) was impossible to get hold with and there has no updates whatsoever. Extremely bad customer service.

Upon getting in we discovered that out three pieces of luggage were missing. NO help what so ever at JFK and was told to contact Germany. Does anyone have any direct contact info for AB?
