My file reference is BOSAB10094. Tried contacting people in Dusseldorf and Air berlin and it has been completely useless. Im frustrated, * and soooooooooooooo dissapointed at your extremely POOR and LAME customer service overall. Please help me change my mind and solve this situation ASAP.

I had a flight from LAX (AB7431) to Dueseeldorf (AB6444). The flight left very late from LAX and I missed my connecting flight in Dueseeldorf to Berlin. I was told I would have a new flight booked and that my bag would make it. I was told not to worry. My new flight was AB6446 from Dueseeldorf to Berlin. When I got to Berlin my bag did not show up. I am going to Stavanger, Norway for the next two weeks. My bag has all my clothes and belongings in it. I have absolutely nothing on me. I have submitted forms to the Lost Baggage Service at the airport, written an email, and also sent a message through the tracking site. I've called the phone number listed three times and every time I am on hold for 30 minutes and then it disconnects. How is this possible? I just want my bag.

Group of people arrived to Iceland 5 days ago and NOBODY @AirBerlin KNOWS where the fxxk YOU sent their luggage (tents and scientific material) now the NEW CUSTOMER CARE POLICY at AirBerlin is "NOT PICKING UP up the phone anymore)... apparently the everyday attitude is this, found plenty of pages with incredible stories about #AirBerlin3rdworldservice

Wish I'd checked this board before booking Air Berlin. Am now entering phase 1 of what appears to be AB's standard operating procedure: bag lost from Palma > Dusseldorf > JFK yesterday. Lydia processed the claim, Omar is on the report, no calls from anyone, no one answering the number. This is going to be fun.

My daughter flew AB Rome-Berlin-JFK on 7/24 and bag did not arrive. Still hasn't. Same description of attempts to communicate with Omar and Lydia as others have given. Have reached Omar through the following technique: Nonstop calling. We have called about 1100 times over 3 days and reached Omar about 5 times. The voicemail is apparently 'cleansed' every so often and then has a fresh tape. No bag yet--but we have just heard from Omar that Alitalia has it and it is 'going through customs' (for 24+ hours now). He told us that it would be sent to us by FedEx (we live 4 hours drive away) after it's sent to him, but our plan, after reading what's here, is to go to JFK tomorrow and try to get it ourselves. -- Many people have strongly suggested on this and other sites not to fly Air Berlin. Please heed that advice!!! -- Oh, one more thing. It was Lydia (in Omar's office) who assigned us the FR # that's required and which wasn't put on the lost bag report. So you have to get through to that office to get the number. That was used to get the bag's info onto the World Tracer site--but despite what Omar told us (that the bag has been found and is at Alitalia), WorldTracer still lists it as lost. What a debacle. If you have to fly, carry it on!!!

JFK-BCN-VIE. Bags got lost in BCN on Tuesday the 26th. Its the 28th. Nobody at Vienna baggage services ever picks up the phone. There has already been 4 plus flights on Air Berlin from BCN to VIE. What the hell is going on in BCN?

Guest : No news from my bag lost in a AirBerlin/Fly Niki flight HG8759 from Milan-LIN to Vienna on 22 July 2016. Calling the Vienna Airport Group Handling Service doesn't help, it seems the bag has not been scanned at any airport yet and therefore it cannot be traced. I remember two other passengers lost their bags in the same flight Milan-LIN to Vienna, have you heard something from your bags? Never again AirBerlin/Fly Niki!!!! Update: Few hours after I wrote this message, got a call from the Vienna airport and just received my bag in home. Everything was OK, and the labels on the bag suggest that it was kept in Milan-LIN for 2 days before being finally sent to Vienna (none of this info was uploaded in the "tracing website", which is simply useless). Best of luck for you all and keep the hope that bags kidnapped by AirBerlin can come back!

Going 2+ without a word from AVIAPARTNER (LIN PIR handler) and Air Berlin without much help. If luggage is not received within next day or two I am looking to take legal actions seems like alot of people are affected and this warrants a class action lawsuit. Luggage contains month worth of cloth for a long trip in the alps region.... I had exactly the same issue... worst customer service ever. This was my last flight with Air Berlin.

The worst airline ever, on top that u can't reserve your seats, on top now my suitcase is missing, we were traveling from BCN to NYC, there was an strike in the airport, the check in took for ever, and when the plane was leaving the Captain told us that the plain wasn't loaded with the luggage, they never asked if you agree to fly without it, they should have canceled the flight, now I'm dealing to try to find the suitcase, but they are totally helpless, we should try to make viral that people stay away from this lousy air company

Guest : Went from BOS via DUS to HAM; all flights delayed by over an hour, missed connection flights, and my suitcase got lost in DUS. Luckily, it was found, and delivered FOUR DAYS LATER to the address I was staying at. Could not continue travels as planned due to missing suitcase. Had to buy essentials to make it through those four days, so I filed claim with Air Berlin via their complaints website, and now they have the cheek to tell me that I took out baggage insurance - which I did NOT!!!! - and to file my claim with the insurance company! NEVER AGAIN AIR BERLIN!!! I have the same problem what did u do to find out that your suiycase was found in DUS?

How did you discover it was in DUS? I'm trying to find loss bag traveling fro JFK TO DUS to Venice. Guest : Just an update - I'm the one who said "flew from Ft. Myers to Dusseldorf and on to Venice on June 26". My bag is still missing (but I'm pretty sure it's in DUS after doing some snooping around). Contacting AB or the staff at DUS is of no help. Figured I'd just cut my losses and never fly AB again. They're basically just thieves, that's all...

Just an update - I'm the one who said "flew from Ft. Myers to Dusseldorf and on to Venice on June 26". My bag was delivered to me today, intact. All of the tags were still attached and the bag had not been opened. The bag also flew the exact same route that I had taken 15 days earlier, suggesting that the only cause for the delay was... that there really was no cause...!!! AirBerlin simply just stored my bag at the airport(s) for two weeks along the way. No apologies, no nothing. But I have no way to prove it since they didn't scan the bag at any of the airports. Clever, right. LESSON LEARNED - NEVER TAKE AIRBERLIN AGAIN. The only good news is that I did finally get my bag back - if that gives any of you any hope...

i was on Air Berlin flight from Dusseldorf to Florence on 6/11/16. i was sitting in window seat and saw my large bag not loaded on the plane. i informed the flight attendant and then spoke with the employee in charge of baggage on the tarmac informing him that my bag and others were being left behind. he assured me there was no problem what followed was 6 days without my bag i was forced to expend over 100 euros on toiletries and hotel laundry to keep my clothes clean. i filed a claim with Air Berlin attached my receipts showing expenses for necessary and reasonable expenses. i was offered a EUR 50 coupon on a future flight. this is EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE; i am a us citizen and will never fly AIR BERLIN again. it was their GROSS NEGLIGENCE that resulted in the virtual ruining of my 8 day vacation to ITALY. My bag was also damaged and i have heard nothing regarding that claim. i am not rich and i did not spend money lightly. i only requested reimbursement for necessary toiletries like toothpaste, hairbrush, shampoo, sunscreen, contac lens solution etc.

My boss and his wife travelled from dusseldorf to JFK on July 2 onboard EY 1622 (operated by Berlin Air). They arrived JFK but their 2 luggages did not. They filed a Report (PIR) but was not given a reference file. Berlin Air said that they would contact my boss 30 minutes after but never did. It is now july 5th and still no word from this airline or even etihad. All calls to them have been left unanswered. My boss will be travelling to NJ and then Canada on July 7th to attend a wedding. This situation has truly been traumatic for them. Seems they do not even care. I hope somebody sees this and acts on it. Flying business class all the way did not seem to help. Hoping against hope, i hope they contact my boss, rommel roque at +63 917 587 8910

My boss just emailed me and said that upon arriving JFK on July 2nd, they realized that their checked in baggages did not arrive with them. They left MNL july1st to AUH then to DUS and finally JFK. The people at the airport said that they will contact my boss after an hour but never did so. They tried contacting the airlines but nobody has been picking up. My boss and his wife flew business class all the way. They accomplished a PIR form but when they sent a copy to me, it did not have a reference file. Am wondering why it doesn't have one. Where do i find the reference file? Was planning on going to etihad's world tracker system to see if their baggages have been found. But, since i didnt have the reference file i could not do a search. Anyone know's a number i can call?

Looks like Air berlin has a PR nightmare with bags going missing in Dusseldorf. I assume legally they own the liability for the loss of bags, after 4 days no response for a lost bag from US. No clothes, no responses from the Air Berlin or AHS Euroground folks in Dusseldorf. Funny how they never answer the phone or emails. The Feds in the US would shut this down. Sounds like Air Berlin may have a giant issue with a con job by folks with access to our bags held by Air Berlin. cannot believe it.

On July 1, my boyfriend and I flew with AirBerlin flight AB7481 from JFK to Dusseldorf to catch my flight to Munich and 3pcs of our checked in luggage were lost. Everyone on our flight lost their luggage too. We were stranded for 6 hrs in the DUS airport without any assistance or any information from AirBerlin. There was a looooong line to the AirBerlin kiosks. Lufthansa issued us a new ticket for their flight to Munich and upon arrival in Munich we filed the lost luggage claim at Aerogate. We were told the luggage would most likely arrive on the next flight next day. It's the 3rd day already that we have no news from Airberlin or aerogate. Going back to Munich airport again now in hopes to get at least some info about our luggage or when to expect it. We are flying to Kyiv in 2 days on the 6th and cannot leave without our luggage... I've noticed it's a recurrent issue with airberlin flights flying thru DUS...

I flew from Faro to Dusselforf july 1, on to JFK july 2. Both my bags were lost. The woman at lost and found says that always seems to happen when you spend the night in Dusseldorf, so glad they're consistent. She said they would call me back later that night. Not only did we not get a call back but in the 40+ calls we've made the last 2 days we've only gotten an answer once saying our bag hadn't arrived yet. How does anyone ever get any information or find their lost bags? I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars replacing all our lost thing if we might get them back in a few days, but my kids can only go so long without a change of clothes. Anyone know how to find out what's going on?

I flew from jfk to Düsseldorf on June 29 and to Milan on 30th. One bag with all our clothes lost, everyone who transferred lost their bags but I had to go to another city Rapallo and was assured bags would follow me there. Day four I finally decided to buy a change of clothes. Zero response from airline or lost baggage at Milan airport. Anyone else on here from that flight? Update: We just got the bag, unbelievable! It had a "rush" label on, which is sort of hilarious, because it took us 20 hours to fly home fr om LAX, but the arrival of the bag took 9 days after it was found, even with its "rush" stickers and everything.. Guest : We flew Los Angeles - Düsseldorf - Stockholm on 22/23 with Air Berlin, and expected to get our bag in Stockholm, but no such luck! The staff at the airport said (assumed?) that the bag had stayed in LA, and on Friday we got a text saying that the bag had been found and will be sent to us ASAP. However, the Menzies Aviation office still does not know where the bag is and tomorrow it's already been a week since we last saw the bag... This is starting to worry us! How is it possible that they found the bag but don't know wh ere it is...? Are we able to get any compensation for the things we have already bought to replace the things that are in the bag?

I am not on Twitter so I am unable to look at the others who have lost their bags on the Boston to Düsseldorf/Munich flight on June 23/24. I contacted the US dept of transportation and got s phone call back within about 24 hours. Yes-a real person. I oldi got an extensive email from him describing the actions that they can take re complaints. E mail your complaints to brianmcquillen@dot.gov. His title is aviation industry analyst/aviation protection division. If there enough complaints out government will look in to irregularities in the airline. They also publish the list of complaints against airlines. Very important to file a complaint with him. Somebody should hold this airline to account
