Horrible service. Flew SFO -JFK - Berlin - Budapest. SFO to JFK was American but trough AirBerlin. I managed to track my bag to NY where AA said they left it and the lady fr om baggage assured me it's loaded on the next plane. Anyways, JFK to berlin depart an hour late, still have no ideea why, so I miss my connection to Budapest even tough they assured us the plane will wait and the bags will be transfered. That did not happen we misses tge connection by 10 mins so they put me on the next flight, 8 hours later. In the meantime I try to find out wh ere my bags are but no luck, they have no ideea, but thwy assure mw it will be on the next flight to Budapest, tough they never gave me a clear answer on weather or not my bag arived in Berlin. Arrived in Budapest, no bag. Filed a report but good luck with that. I hope I recover it, but not putting my hopes up. AirBerlin sucks, their staff is of absolutely no help, they have no clue about absolutely anything.
Today i saw,on a connecting Air Berlin flight (AA ONe World partner), to Florence that the luggage handlers did not load all the luggage. I rushed to the front of the plane and waived over the man in charge of loading the plane, He assured me all would be loaded Then they detached the trailer with luggage still in it( i am sure i saw mine) and took off. When i landed at florence, there was no bag and no "message" of its whereabouts Now they say, if they find it that they cannot deliver for 3-4 days because they have no "courier". I am wondering if this was a scam...
AirBerlin - I share the same story as most people posting on this forum. June 7th flight from Fort Myers to Romania, with scheduled stops in Dusseldorf and Berlin. Last minute change rerouting our flight thru Prague, absolutely no prior notice to passengers. Initial takeoff ONE HOUR AND HALF later, speed race thru airports to catch connecting flights... Lost luggage at destination, absolutely no cooperation from whatever AB calls their customer service at 917.261.3165. Nasty, rude and useless. It's been over 4 days since we landed, with no luggage in sight. They cannot track or find anything. I tried calling the number for US-Customers: (866) 266-5588. Guess what? IT AUTOMATICALLY HANGS UP ON YOU!!! I will pursue this further, welcome to join in the crusade...

I was going to fly with my family from Berlin to Gothenburg and we checkt in on time. At the gate they told us that they overbooked the plane and one of us must take a later flight, 5 hours later. The staf at the gate were very rude. Later at the Air Berlin desk they lied to me and said that I shoud get à compensation , 250 euro, but it turned out to be be voucher for a new flight. We will nerver fly with Air Berlin again.

Me arived but not suitcase like it has happened for many others at flight berlin arlanda this day i planed to stay in sweden for 3 days and i stayed 6 waiting for my suitcase temperature -23.day after i went shoping necesary things as they were in suitcase i sent the receipts of those expenses to ab.Few days ago i receive a mail from them which sais they give 50 euros discount at my next flight with ab. what a joke.So i plan to use a lowyer to find my rights. If my writing is interesting for anyone of you,piease let me know nikos
Was just on a flight yesterday fr om JFK-DUS-VCE and me and my fiancé bag did not arrive. No one can tell me wh ere it is or trace it. How is this possible when bags have tags on them and are scanned. I leave in a day to my next destination and have no bag and can't figure out what AB's reimbursement policy is for buying new items that I need. HELP!!!
Very unsatisfied with their service. I wont use Air Berlin in the future and will not recommend to anybody. They technically ruined our family vacation. I wanted to correct my son’s name and they said that I have to cancel his ticket – no refund- and purchase another one because it is a transfer to different name. For god sakes its just last name change since I did make mistake and my son is only 8 years old. When I called customer service I got the most rude person ever – her name was Gabriela and I’ve never talked to more unprofessional and unhelpful person ever. When I asked her to be transferred to supervisor she refused to do it. It is our first vacation since 2010 and thanks to Air Berlin it is the worse experience ever!!
After reading all these complains, I seriously wonder if Airberlin would fully refund my ticket. Been waiting for the confirmation this whole week and got nothing. Really disappointed with their customer service, I called them, talked to like 3 representatives, all of them couldn't even speak in proper English. I now know why they are called #airberlinsucks. I was tricked by their so-called 'SYSTEM ERROR' cheap business class fare and suddenly without any notification got downgraded to coach?! I only want a full refund!

Don't give a way to despair! Last time looisng my luggage in Copenhagen on a way to Paris was such a relief otherwise I would've had to spend all of my day tossing it around the city. A call to a flight company brought it back home after about 12 hours of traveling. I'm sure this is a repeatable case. Every cloud has a silver lining.. ;)
NOT A SINGLE MAIL, NO NOTICE. THEY CANCELED MY ( fully paid ) TICKET WITHOUT NOTICE Air Berlin sucks. This is a true story. I booked on April 2015 two tickets from Air Berlin. They were paid in full and thus the airline sent the tickets via an e-mail as well as the invoice. The tickets were purchased for a round trip, with seat reservations and Insurance ( additional fee ). Our trip taked off on September and we had a wonderful vacation BUT... The day before our departure back I checked my credit card statement and found out there was a full refund ( DURING MY VACATION ) of both tickets. I called customer service since i had to fly back the programmed date and they said that there was nothing they could do. That i have to book a completely one way ticket, pay for it and wait and ( trust ) the airline for a refund. Finally they made me take a train for 4 hours each way to the airport to sort things out. I took the flight back on a seat that was not good for me since I´m 2.10 mts tall and 160 Kg. ( THEY MADE ME SEAT ON A STEWARDESS SEAT ) No appologies vas ever made from the airline, nor a refund, nor nothing. They only said i was lucky to get on board because the flight was overbooked. This was my first time on Air Berlin and for sure is going to be my last. And since Air Berlin and Ethiad Airways are partners, i wont fly on both ever again I wonder how good maintenance they give to the planes considering they fooled so bad in this situation. Furthermore, customer service also sucks. It seems that they hire specially conflictive people for customer service. I wonder if they go on purpose on mental institutes to pick the most conflictive individuals. Be carefull on an airline that behaves on such a way. There are plenty of good airlines out there and it does not make any sense to buy on an offer for a few less bucks if they manage to ruin your vacation after. So many things can go wrong on this airline with such a bad attitude. I just think its not worth risking your life on a plane of an airline that has this type of issues
Is there ever anyone in the lost baggage office at JFK to talk to? How are we supposed to find our lost bags if no one is answering the phones. They need to get an online system like other airlines where you can track your bags. Very frustrating.

I think, it is mistake of Etihad to tag with careless airlines like Air Berlin with no proper customer support. I called yesterday, to ARN airport and gave file number, they sais two bags have arrived and they are waiting for one bag to come to ARN. But this is not at all updated in the link they provided in the complaint letter.

I've asked about the refund and the guy said that I can buy clothes and send Air Berlin the receipts but still.... Anyone who was on the same flight and still didn't received their luggage??

They sent me to the 'lost and found' office where there was a very arrogant woman who took my boarding pass details and then told me that they did not know wh ere the backpack was but that it'll reach my home in 2 days...it's been 5 days now and I can not get intouch with them. They have successfully disconnected their phone lines and they are not responding to any of my attempts to get in touch with them.. so now I am thinking of going to the police station to register a case against AirBerlin for 'stealing' precious and valuable cargo with a tremendous amount of sentimental value. Yeah, I'm in the same situation. I finally received my luggage but only after I was forced to buy clothes because of the cold climate. I was told that I would receive a refund. It's been 4 months and nobody responds to any calls or emails. I know of 3 other people in similar situations with the same results. This airline is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! I am supposed to receive compensation for delaying my flights and for taxi charges they asked me to take which is aroud 640 euros and compensation for luggage delay 5 months back.
I have been trying to get compensation from airberlin people for past 5 months, after contacting LBA , airberlin guest relations office told me they would send me money and asked me to upload the bank details in the complaint page but after uploading all i got was an automatic reply and I have been asking them about my status for the past 4 months. Airberlin also delayed my luggage for 2 days . Does anyone know what to do ?

The WORST telephone customer support EVER. They have an issue with amex payments being processed at present and when I finally got a supervisor (Claudia) she told me that it was not Air Berlin's problem...I said it was Air Berlin's vendor and they needed to own and manage it..this was fr om a supervisor. Kept getting passed from person to person, half knew of the issue, the other half were in denial and said I should have (at my cost) chosen the 72hr price protection option...seriously i have t pay for their problem! As a platinum member of AirBerlin i finally got transferred to the platinum line wh ere all issues were put back on track, but I was fortunate I could do that, the strange thing was from the standard line only 2 out of 7 agents knew how to do the transfer. They did not listen and just kept saying sorry, but really they have no idea why they are saying sorry. Issues has gone for at least 4 days now....and they have no back-up process to support their business. Their customer services needs a complete overhaul. Back in the days before I was a platinum member i would wait 2-3 weeks for a response to an email...and they keep promoting email is the better option. Well i guess it is unless I want to spend 4 weeks waiting on the phone line.

AirBerlin lost my luggage TWICE in a single trip. For a total of 8 days. Kept all of my receipts from having to buy everything from shoes to a toothbrush to undergarments. Submitted the receipts. Received a reply that instead of reimbursing me for the $1500 (converted from Euros) spent, they offered a $150 airline credit to fly with them again. WORST AIRLINE EVER. I am still arguing with them and will wage a social media attack if I do not receive my money.
My suitcase failed to show up today - air berlin direct jfk-berlin. How do you mess that up? I travel alot & this is the first time thid has happened. Thankfully I was on my way home but I want my suitcase!! Let's pray it is found. Ugh.

Kelly : Air Berlin lost our luggage on our flight on September 6th. They finally found my husband's and returned it on the 7th day of our 9 day cruise. They have still not "found" mine. As it is now past the 21 day timeline for luggage to be found, I requested the compensation for my lost luggage only to be sent back a response that I have to wait until October 4th. We've only been able to get them to answer the phone once for us and were told that unless we spoke German they wouldn't speak with us and hung up on us. Even American Airlines (our flight was code shared from American) can't get Air Berlin to answer the phone! can you tell us what number you called, so we can try? thank you kindly.
