I travelled to Israel with Air Berlin. They lost my luggage on the way there and prevented me from returning to the UK - all because they 'had not seen my type of visa before'. The staff were rude and ignorant. It cost me almost £2000 to fly with my daughter back to the Uk with another airline who accepted my visa straight away. I have never such a wicked bunch of people! I have written to Air Berlin and will be writing to other organisations in the UK and at international level to protest against Air Berlin. They went out of their way to lie to me, and lie against me. I will not rest until I deal with this disgraceful airline. Do not fly with Air Berlin they may look cheap but they will cost you a lot of pain. Beware of Air Berlin.

The Staff was ignorent and not serviceminded at all! Our plane was delayed and we had onother plane to catch from Berlin (same company) I informed the staff of our problem and they promsed to get back to us which they didnt. When I again asked for information "the had no information"! We hurried to the gate and our fligtht to Stockholm was also delayed. Why didnt we get that information !! Never Air Berlin again

I am on a business trip to Dusseldorf. I had boarded Air Berlin flight and I have in Dusseldorf with no luggage. Both of my bags have been lost and there is still no trace of it. I have reported the incidence on Dusseldorf lost and found department - Reference number # DUSAB63227. I am strictly veg and had my eatable carried along in the baggage. My daily medicines are also in bag. It is really being tough time for me to adjust in a different country with no means of accessing my clothes, medicines and other basic necessities.

Flew SAN -LAX (with AA) and then LAX - DUS with airberlin August 25, then DUS- SZG August 26. My luggage never arrived. Zero info and help from baggage services in Salzburg the first 5 days, then zero info and help from airberlin's subcontractor since. And, of course, ZERO communication or ability to contact anyone even remotely willing to help at airberlin itself! Only through multiple complaints on AB's FB page did I first get said BaggageExpress to send me a form e-mail to officially acknowledge my case on September 4, and then, on September 20 (by their own admission, 3 days before they were officially supposed to give up looking for it!) that my baggage couldn't be found! I have flown airberlin many times over the last half decade and never had any problems, but now, having had a huge problem, I am absolutely livid and horrified and their utter lack of customer service or even common decency! Tbh, I don't believe for a second ANYONE ever even *tried* to locate my suitcase - which was in excellent condition, unusual enough to be very noticeable and had a stitched on, pull-out luggage tag with all my contact info as well as items with plenty of my contact info inside! Based on everything I have read online, I very much doubt I will have much luck in ever claiming the compensation I am legally owed, and that doesn't even cover a fraction of the monetary value of the lost items; the emotional value of them is irreplaceable. I have never been this * before in my life, because I have never before in my life dealt with a company which is so negligent in fulfilling its obligations and has so much contempt for its customers! My verdict is: AVOID AIR BERLIN AT ALL COSTS! They are a perfectly decent - good airline if everything goes to plan, but if something goes wrong, they will leave you completely high and dry! (And statistically, things "go wrong" with them far more often than with any comparable carriers!)

They lost my bag September 8th and im going through the same ordeal. if you are reading this the best way to get a response is by posting on their facebook or any other form of social media. Don't just post a comment on their wall, you will need to post it one of their promotional post. If they delete it post it again. Its the only way they will do something as you will be affecting their reputation for the world to see it.

Guest : Lost all luggage on Air Berlin flight from Orly to Berlin on flight AB 8309 on the 9th of September. Like everyone else. Useless, have an email everyday via the "contact your airline" tab on the World Tracer page, no response. Have also been emailing service@baggageexpress.de and penelope.williams@wisag.de, every day as well and no response. Tried calling Qantas as the tickets were issued through them, they were also useless. The status on the tracker now says DELIVERY PROCESS INITIATED. I don't know what that means as no one has contacted us to say that the bags have been located. I suspect that this is an automated message as it has now been exactly 5 days since the bags went missing and according the useless customer service person I spoke to in Germany, they do not look for the bags until 5 days after they are missing. The third party company that Air Berlin uses does not track luggage, so I don't know how anyone is getting their luggage back unless you actually go back to the airport yourself. We did this at Berlin airport twice. They physically searched all the unclaimed baggage twice (taking 4 hours) and the bags were not found. THIS IS THE WORST AIRLINE IN THE WORLD. I agree! The worst airline! I spent the entire week in Europe without my bag and even though I am back in NYC, I am not getting any help with my lost suitcase. I am incurring so many expenses as I am missing things for work and personal use. The customer service is non-existent!

Guest : Is there a toll free number for Air Berlin baggage or Claim loss ? Hah! We racked up @$80 calling the numbers we had for Airberlin when we were trying to track down our bags last month in Europe. Only once did we actually reach a real person in all our attempts.

I flew from Chicago O'Hare to Dusseldorf and onto Florence for school on Aug 29. Airberlin lost both of my bags and still no word. Keep getting the run around and no-one seems to have answers. I was told they were in Dusseldorf scheduled for delivery to Florence and now they are magically lost. Airberlin needs to get their act together! I have everything for a years worth of school in there and they seem to not care!

Flight AB7450 from Dusseldorf to JFK on Sept. 4. 2016 - LOST BAGGAGE - Update Anyone with MISSING/LOST LUGGAGE at JFK, try calling Bex company at 718-712-0258 or 718-712-0257. This is the actual company that handles luggage deliveries for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. My luggage was delivered this morning and I spoke with the driver who was very helpful. Omar is giving people wrong (non-working) phone numbers on Property Irregularity Report. Also, he does not include a very important reference numbers which contain 10 digits and always start with "JFKAB_ _ _ _ _". On top of that, Air Berlin customer service WILL NOT help anyone. I hope that this info helps solve this Lost Luggage Mystery, at least for some of you. If you are not in any of those 3 states, your luggage is probably on the way to you through Fed Ex.

I called Air Serbia and they just redirected me to Air Berlin. I sent ya a text on your phone. Please message me back when you can. I am not even in NYC so I can't even go to the airport myself. I posted 8/25. We have submitted our claim, received a form reply that it was received, then today an "do not reply to this" email was sent from airberlin warning us we had just 21 days to file a complaint per the Montreal convention. We will try the 917 #. We are still trying to hire a German attorney per German friends who also had major issues with airberlin

Tried calling all the available numbers and there was no response. Finally I went to JFK Terminal 8. Spoke to the customer representative / agent at the ticketing / check-in counter. One of the agents took me to a room wh ere all the luggage are stored. I was able to find my luggage and get it from there. Although it was a 2 hour drive for me, I am glad I got the luggage back.

Flew fr om Dusseldorf to Copenhagen in July. The plane was grounded on the tarmac for 3 hours due to engine malfunction and passengers had to remain on board without AC. Luggage was promptly lost and did not arrive for another 5 days. My claim was properly filed for out of pocket costs I incurred due to your failure to timely deliver my luggage. I filed my cost reimbursement claim upon arrival back in U.S. a few weeks later which was promptly rejected by Air Berlin customer service as the 21-day claim limit, a lim it I was never notified off (in writing or verbal), had expired. A piece of advice to Air Berlin; I am now a none-recurring customer. If you want to be a successful business with longevity, customer service is of utmost importance. And in your case, you have a long way to go before you even become mediocre. I wish you the best and promise to keep everybody I can reach/know away from your airline.

Please help. Air Berlin lost my luggage over 2 weeks ago. We flew to JFK New York through Air Berlin from Rome to Dusseldorf then to JFK on August 13th. My reference number is JFKAB15888 and my last name is Del Rosario. I have all my stuff there (glasses, contact lenses, book bag, clothes, sneakers). I have spoken to Omar, John and Lydia at Jfk and they just give me the reference number. I have called air berlin and the customer service rep does not help. They only tell me to wait it out and to check online. I check Worldtracer site and it just says my report has been received. Nothing else. Please help. Thank you.

Airberlin lost my bag on the 12th August. It's now the 31st and I have heard NOTHING from them. I have emailed them several times and tried to call them more times than I can count. I have gone weeks now without my clothes and shoes, living in a foreign country and not even money to replace me items. I will never fly with them again. How can this much time pass and not a word from them? Are they hoping if they ignore me long enough I will just go away?

From the number of complaints regarding lost luggage and from the number of phone calls to only a recording, it is obvious neither the airline (AirBerlin) nor the airport personnel (New York/Dusseldorf/Florence) make baggage delivery a priority. My son and his friend took the 27 August 2016 flight NY-Dus-Fl. Five days later their bags still have not arrived. No passenger from New York through Dusseldorf to Florence was able to collect a checked bag on arrival in Florence. How can this be so difficult? Why can't an airline do something about baggage handlers and airport personnel?

Flew fr om JFK-TXL 29 July with 2 bags checked through fr om CLE. Gone. Completed the form on the computer at TXL, heard nothing until 4/8 via email that one bag was found. Told to call as to where it should be sent but # closed for the night. Actually did speak to a rep the next morning, asked that bag be rushed to Amsterdam wh ere we now were because we were leaving for a 2 week cruise on the 6th. Nothing. Calls and emails never answered. On the ship we get another email saying bag was lost again. Then another later that week saying it was found at AMS held by Menzies Aviation. Asked that it be sent to the B&B in Amsterdam wh ere we could pick it up when the cruise ended. Too much paperwork so we opted to pick it up at AMS. Meanwhile ship's concierge was trying to get word on other bag but encountered the same issue of nobody ever picking up the phone at airberlin. Finally, the day before the cruise ended an email came to me that my bag was at AMS but should they send it to my US home. NO Waaay! We did have both bags returned at AMS 3 weeks from the day we landed in Europe. Bag tags indicated they were on the JFK-DUS fllight departing 31 July and then from DUS to TXL on the 1st. We were in Berlin til the 2nd. Total disregard of customers by airberlin because those bags should have been delivered to our Berlin hotel the 1st. We had moved on from Berlin to Prague on the 2nd and arrived in Amsterdam the 4th. Now the frustration of filing a claim. airberlin wants all our info, but each time we try to complete their form and scan/attach the required documentation of our expenses incurred the site crashes! We will be working with a German attorney to hold airberlin accountable under EU rules!!

My parents arrived on flight from Dusseldorf at JFK on 08/16. They were told there was power outage and the bags couldnt be loaded into the carousel. They waited for 2 hours and nothing happened. they were asked to give the address and contact information and were told that the luggage will be delivered with 3 days to our home. They also gave a contact number to check the status. Any time we call this number, there is no response. It has been more than 5 days and there is no response Air Berlin Baggage Services. We tried contacting Air Berlin directly and they are asking for file number and which was not provided by the staff at JFK. If you were no the same flight (AB7450) and have not received the flight, please reply to this message. Can we raise a complaint as a group?

I traveled from SKG to JFK. My luggage got lost. They gave me an incomplete number to call . I called Air Berlin in NY and they gave me this number: 718-244-0916. I was calling all day long for 3 days, but nobody picked up the phone. I found another number on the web 718-244-0921 but when I call the answering service responds: "I am sorry there is no room right now to record your message. Please try again later." This has been going on for 3 days now.

Lost my luggage in flight AB7249 JFK-TXL 5:30pm 16 Aug, previously anounsed that not all the luggage will be loaded to the plane cause of the troubles with loading tape where check-in is. Now no any info about its status. Did an application form in lost&found. Checking it online, no even status about it location... Conclusion: Avoid

Flew fr om CHICAGO to BUDAPEST connecting in Berlin on 8/12/2016. Flight left ORD late and then left Berlin late. We arrived in Budapest on time. We never received our 3 bags in Budapest. My friend traveling on same flight received 2 of 3. So airberlin got lazy and onloaded part of the bags? Half the people on the plane was missing bags. Filled a missing bag report and was told I would receive them the following day at 6pm since the bags were still in Berlin. It was all a lie. I emailed BUDAPEST to see if my bags arrived from Berlin. BUD said they sent my bags to Vienna on 8/13 flt OS977. Vienna said they never received the bags. I emailed BUDAPEST again, then they said they sent them to Graz on 8/14. I called Graz and they said they never received my bags. So right now, 3 days later no one knows wh ere my bags are. I'm on vacation with 2 kids and no clothes or personal items. I have to cancel hotel reservations in other cities so I can wait for the bags in one location. Horrible experience on AirBerlin. They never responded to emails and phones are useless. This has never happen to me before, ever. I will make sure everyone I know, including businesses, hear about AirBerlin's none existing customer service. Please do yourself a favor and fly responsible airlines who actually care about their customers. Ref number: BUDAB16346

None of our bags arrived at Dusseldorf. Air Berlin is totally useless, it's impossible to talk to anyone and no reply to emails. Internet reveals that this is a very comment complaint about AirBerlin. Wish I had known.....

Flew from Miami to Barcelona to Vienna July 16/17th. Bag never made it to Vienna. Vienna baggage service personnel could not be bothered to take all information (including tag numbers). Now it is August 10th and still no bags. Three week vacation in Europe with no luggage. Almost impossible to get any response from Air Berlin "customer service". Never taking this airline or any of its partners again.

I traveled with Airberlin from Kraków to Berlin on August 2, 2016 and then to Duesseldorf to Chicago. Upon arrival my bag was nowhere to be found. I made a report to AMerican Airline which was my connecting flight and they said my bag was not transferred into American Airline. And that it might still be in Berlin or Duesseldorf. Can someone tell me what is going on. I can't even get the someone from Airberlin to talk about my situation. My bag tag is AB373961, flight number Airberlin 6431, and phone number is +12247155927.
