Definitely the worst airline on the planet!! Not only did they miss our flight connection and then lose our baggage for 4 days, they showed no interest or sympathy for our loss. So much for German efficiency. Fly with them at your peril!!

I finally received my luggage that was lost on 8-8-2013 but my friends from the same flight did not get there luggage it's a bit chaotic in Berlin at the Moment I hope u all get your belongings as soon as possible

Just an update, my daughters luggage was lost on a flight from Munich>Berlin>Miami on Aug. 8th, I FINALLY did get a response via email from AB that the luggage was located and coming into Miami this afternoon- August 15th. My husband said when he flew out of Berlin late July he saw stacks of luggage in the hallways at the airport. One agent at Air Berlin that I did manage to reach in Miami said that the airport in Berlin is overwhelmed with baggage. I DO fault Air Berlin for not being clear on communication, but I also place a HUGE amount of blame on Tegel airport. I won't rest easy until I have the suitcase in my hands, for all I know it could be another day so I am reluctant to get excited. I just thought I would update my post from yesterday.

Air Berlin lost my luggage from Punta Cana. No one answers on the telephone, do not answer on e-mail, impossible to get any information at all. What a mess, I am losing hope to get my luggage back. DO NOT TRAVEL WITH AIR BERLIN.

Alex Ostrowski here again ! I have put a message on Tripadvisor about the crazy mess with with our missing luggage. We all need to get this story out to as many forums etc as we can. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE HIGHLIGHTED ! As far as I am concerned, my luggage has been STOLEN.......GET YOUR ACT SORTED OUT AIR BERLIN....NOW !!! Anyone got any positive news on this subject today ?

Guest : Hi ! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE ? My husband & I flew from Antalya, Turkey last Friday 9th Aug, to Tegel airport, Berlin. We had an onward connection to Heathrow, London. We had a hunch that things would not go smoothly with our luggage coming home, as a mess up was made going out from Hannover ! We were so paranoid about our luggage that we were reassured by at least 5 Air Berlin staff that our luggage would be fine !! On our arrival at Heathrow we waited for our luggage. NO BLOODY LUGGAGE TO BE SEEN !! We have also contacted Expedia, who we booked the flights through, to ask if they are aware of this nightmare ! Like all of you, our personal stuff is in those suitcases, AND WE WANT THEM BACK !! AIR BERLIN SHOULD BE TAKEN TO TASK FOR THIS GOD AWFUL MESS ! Same here. Same here. Checked suitcase in early at Munich on Aug 8 then flew to berlin on aug 9 and arrived in Miami. Now it is almost 6 days with no suitcase. New clothes, camera, extra cel phone were in the suitcase. This has ruined our holiday. I keep calling Miami and they tell me a reference number but it never shows up. Emails to Air Berlin go unanswered.

Air Berlin lost our luggage both on our trip to Krakow (through Berlin) and our return trip fr om Krakow to Rome (through Berlin), even though in both instances we had 2-3 hour layovers in Berlin AND our connecting flights were in the same terminal. When we booked the flights, we thought the longer layovers would ensure that our bags would make it -- how wrong we were! Luckily, in Krakow, our bags were found in the system and delivered to us within 24 hours, but our situation in Rome looks much different. Our bags cannot be found in the tracing system, and it is difficult to get in touch with anyone either at the airport or at Air Berlin. When I have had baggage lost before through American carriers, I was told immediately wh ere the baggage was and when it was expected to arrive. AirBerlin's baggage system, however, appears to be in the * ages and is completely unacceptable. If I had known about AirBerlin's track record with luggage, I would have never booked a flight with them or would have NEVER checked my baggage. If anyone has success stories with getting their bags back (or for how to best deal with AirBerlin), I would love to know! If we receive our bags and/or we have success in dealing with AirBerlin (I am doubtful), I will post our story to try to help others. The level of professionalism and customer service of AirBerlin is the lowest of any airline I am aware of, and unfortunately that is saying a lot.

6 days later, we are still without any bagage in Ibiza. Our bags are not even located by the tracing system but we assume that they are somewhere in Berlin. Noone contacts us to give us any information. After 5 days we were supposed to contact the airline with information for a detailed search. Since calling them om the phone is impossible, we sent a long and detailed e-mail. Noone has replied to us yet. How hard can it be to locate purple suitcase with a huge crocodile sticker on the side??? Now the 7th day of our holiday is starting and we still don't know anything. We are leaving in 2 days and have lost all hope to recieve the bags. Every day we have spent at least 1 hour on the phone, waiting in long phone queues only to be disconnected after a while. After preparing for months for this vacation and spending Thousands of kronor on outfits especially for it, we've been forced to spend the week wearing 3 cheap dresses that we bought in a local store. Noone would even tell us how much we are allowed to spend per day. I am so mad at this point, that I will contact the Swedish reclamation bureau and my contacts in the media as soon as I return home. I am disgusted and frustrated with the lack of information and the carelessness shown by the airline. Since our arrival 3 other direct flights from Berlin have landed on Ibiza and none of them had our bags.

Air Berlin has ruined my holiday in Venice. My partner flew from Franfurt.......after 4 weeks travelling with no problem on other airlines...then a flight to Venice on Air Berlin via Berlin has caused major problems as they have lost her suitcase with all her belongings! This happened on Monday 12th August ...along with 6 other passengers! It is now Tuesday night...and no indication of when she will get her suitcase back...after lodging the lost application at Venice airport. Also ...after trying to ring Air Berlin to find out what allowance she may have for buying clothes to get her by...until the suitcase arrives...it is impossible to get an answer.Where is your customer service Air berlin.??? I am disgusted...and as I am involved with the World's Media...I am taking this further....unless we receive some help very quickly.!!!

This is crazy! I've been waiting in Stockholm the whole day for my bag. I had a connecting flight from Berlin and my bag is still there. I've been waiting from 10.00 in the morning and I'm still at the airport and its soon 22.00 in the night. In going to Greece with my Girlfriend early tomorrow and we had only this day to spend in Stockholm but they said that the bag might come with the next flight 14.00 then 18.35 then now we are waiting for the flight at 23.00. This is crazy!!! I have stuff in my bag that costed my so because I've been planning this vacation to Greece for months. How can a company work like that??? This is not acceptable!! This company has no service and should be ashamed of themselves!!

My husband and I flew via Air Berlin from JFK to Berlin on Aug 1 and the bags never arrived in Oslo on Aug 2. Like many of you I have not yet received our luggage or heard whether it has been located or is still "delayed." Was anyone else on flight AB8246 on Aug 2 whose bags were lost and subsequently found? Also, any feedback in regards to actually getting reimbursed for costs associated with missing luggage throughout a 10 day vacation?

We travelled via Air Berlin to Teigel to Zurich to Canary Islands on July 31, 2013. My luggage was lost for two days, receiving the bag on August 3. My husband's luggage is still missing, and it is now August 12, 2013. We are out hundreds of dollars, by having to purchase new clothes, telephone expenses trying to follow up on the lost luggage, as well as the new carry on bag that was purchased specifically for this trip. We've emailed AB several times to no avail. We've contacted AB in Germany several times, only to be put on hold and then disconnected. There has been absolutely no communication to us in reference to the lost luggage. This has to be the worst airline on record. I've contact AA as they are partners with AB, so only time will tell whether we will even receive a response.

I flew to Heathrow on Friday, the 9th of Aug with a stopover in Tegel. First flight with AirBerlin, second one with BA. The baggage hasn't been even scanned in Tegel and AirBerlin is responsible for the delay/loss. Luckily I'm getting information through BA, so unlike many of you I can get in touch with the airline on the phone. Though not many news... they say to keep waiting, but it's been 3 days already! Any luck with finding your suitcases? Is it possible they return it at some point? How long does it usually take? Good luck everyone!

Is there someone from the same flight that already relieved there luggage???

8 aug. 2013, Lost 3 suitcases on a flight from Bangkok to DUSS, via Abu Dhabi and Berlin, tegel 4 days later, we couldn't contact anybody through the supplied telephone number on the property irregularity report. We try several times a day. I tried 3 times to correct our information on the website, sending it succesful, but it was never updated. What a shame! I was a happy customer before, but their handling of service requests , and responding or any pro- activity is completly absent.

I think everyone needs to be a little more patient and realize that when God comes he will not allow us to bring any of our belongings. Everything is meaningless. Airberlin lost my luggage on TEGEL airport since the 07/08/13 on a flight Kaliningrad - Belgrade via Berlin, they won't answer emails, calls and are not helping. Me and my family lost 5 luggage! What a shame on Germany!! Never fly with airberlin again and definitely tell people not to as well.

Airberlin lost my luggage since the 31/07/13 on a flight Miami - London via Berlin, they won't answer emails, and are not helping at all. So many complaints about lost baggages, I'm almost sure airberlin staff are just a bunch of thieves! What a shame on Germany!! Never fly with airberlin again and definitely tell people not to as well.

My luggage has been missing for 4 days now and air Berlin has done nothing to help us. Impossible to get them on the phone, and getting only auto replies on mails. We flew Gothenburg-Tegel-Mallorca-ibiza. Mallorca already replied that they don't have out bags. Tegel won't even Reply to the airport Staff. I am So disappointed, never using this * company again.

My husband went to Denmark thru Berlin on Friday night (arriving on Saturday Morning). His baggage did not show up and he was performing and only there 1 day. He is now returning and still no luggage. I cannot find a number to call and they have not called! It seems a lot of people are having the same issue. I will check in when I get a response.

Our luggage was lost flying from Miami to London via Berlin. It's only day one of lost luggage so I remain hopeful. We were Returning from our honeymoon so the cases had memories in that We'd like to keep. We had a bad feeling the minute we entered the terminal in Berlin, it just seemed two bob and none of the staff seemed bothered about anything.

I believe when I boarded the plane in Berlin the pilot mentioned delays in luggage transportation due to industrial action....what an embarrassment for the city of BERLIN and GERMANY!

The flights themselves were uneventful but the loss of our luggage and then taking nearly 3 days to get it to us was shameful. Will never use them again. I met a couple whose luggage was lost on both outward AND return flights. When I got my bag back it was wet as we're all the clothes inside it.

I'm currently on day 10 without my luggage, and so far they haven't contacted me or anything. Except that its been past 5 days and that I should fill out a compensation form. It's crazy how it seems to be happening to everyone!

Can't agree more about the non existent service both in the air and on the ground. Our bags have been missing for 9 days. No one cares at Air Berlin. They are missing from flight 7022 TXL to LAX on July 31

Hello all, this is the third day that Air Berlin has lost our luggage and decided to be completely silent to our inquiries. Thinking of doing something, I sent a few emails to the news tip department of a couple of major newspaper in Gothenburg as well as other places, hoping to get the story out. I took a flight from Gothenburg to Berlin, and from Berlin to Cologne. The flight itself was decent, however my luggage was lost as well. When calling the number provided, it's only a tape playing and there is no way to get in contact with anyone, neither do I know if they have even found my luggage.
