I would like to express my utmost dissatisfaction and disappointment in the way Sunwing handled the entire Mexico situation. The lack of communication and respect for the customers was surreal while we were stranded for 26 hours. By now I imagine a lot of complaints have been received. And I am sure by the way Sunwing handled the situation in Mexico that its representatives could care less about all the complaints. I would like to thank you guys as I missed my exam on Tuesday and for allowing the plane to fly in that winter storm home. The one positive thing I can take out of this is that our pilot was exceptional with the flying conditions she had in front of her. All in all, extremely disappointed. All four times I have flown with Sunwing I have experienced issues...every single time! Its astonishing really. However, I have kept realistic and loyal about every situation, but this was the the icing on the cake. I won't be flying Sunwing again.

I was really mad about our experience until I read the complaints below. Now I'm just grateful we were only delayed a couple of hours and got home with our luggage. But here's my two cents anyways. Have you ever flown on a plane that had to stop for gas? We flew Sunwing yesterday from St Martin to Montreal. When we checked in, the gate agent informed us that we would be making a one hour detour / stopover in Punta Cana to refuel because the plane was too full to take off with enough fuel to make it to Montreal???? I will never complain about Air Canada customer service again. Strictly amateur hour on the plane. At one point the pilot got on the PA and announced "If you have to go to the bathroom go now because we're about to hit turbulence for a really long time and I don't know when you'll be able to go next". Have you ever seen an entire plane-load of passengers immediately get out of their seats and line up to use the bathroom? And all the nervous fliers just freak-out. Then the head flight attendant gets on the PA and says "We're going to take advantage of the turbulence to come around with our duty-free selection." It must be a very scary life working for Sunwing. Never again!

Unreal that they let people sit on the tarmac for 13.5 hours. Great write up and story from one of the passengers here" www.complaintsoffice.com They need a bill of rights for passengers in Canada

Pay the extra money not to fly with these clowns. They lie abt departure times, have no regard for customer service... like a silly $10 dinner coupon pays for my inconvenience of having to wait. 17 hr travel time toronto to orlando....not once did they tell us was going on honestly. All other airlines were taking off with no issues. The airhostess even argued with a senior that they could not sit in the "elite" seats...more legroom by the emergency exit...if he didnt pay the $25 premium!!! After the long wait even! The fish rots at the head... this is a poorly managed company...never getting my money again. I remember jey blue being 1 hr late and they were so apologetic they evn gave us $100 off the next flight each...

Guest : Suppose to fly out to Varadero from Vancouver tmr. Scheduled to depart at 0730...and now the flight is scheduled to depart at 1720. We will not arrive at Varadero until 2:10am 10 hour flight delight is outrageous. I expect 2-3 hours, but 10? And this a weekly occurrence with sunwing. This airline needs to get their act together as I would imagine that there will be alot of unhappy travellers tmr. The biggest Issue I have is the notification. I am up at 5 am for the same flight. They have an ethical if not legal responsibility to their customers, Frankly I am disappointed in the lack of customer service and accountability. How do you make up for an entire days loss of vacation?

Hi, we were also on that flight...NOT impressed with any of it!!! Any word or luck with getting compensation? Thanks! Guest : Guest : I am interested if anyone was on the sunwing flight from Montego Bay to Toronto that was SUPPOSE to leave on Jan. 11, 2013 and was delayed 3 or 4 times until it finally left on Jan.12, 2013 at 1:50am? If so a number of people are seeking compensation for all the delays and inconvenience and I was wondering how they are doing with that and if it's even worth my time? We we on the flight that landed in Montego Bay at 12:30 AM on Jan 12, 2013. You must have boarded the plane after we unloaded. We were supposed to leave Pearons at 10:30 am but did not take off until 9:00 PM. after being dleayed 3 times. I can tell you they litterally did not have a plane in Toronto to fly to Montego Bay. I'm surprised that they did not usk us to chip-in for the fuel. Their customer service is non existent. I just got a reply yesterday after sending a complaint on Jan 11. Their offer 75 bucks per person from the next trip with Sunwing. As if I ever going to book with those bust$%#s. BTW we paid close to 9K four our vacation, should have paid and extra 1K and fly with Westjet.

I would never fly sunwing again, after 9 hours delay in toronto airport, because of no Pilots available, our trip started bad, as we boarded the plane it was filthy and old, not a word of apologies that we been waiting for so long. We flew from Toronto to Jamaica, and we did have a wonderful time in Montego Bay Iberostar. Sadly the day of departure we once again had a delay of over 6 hours… Wasn't to big of a deal BUT arriving home again, and I opened up my suitcase and released someone been stolen things out of my suite case, gifts for my children and gifts for my self… Trying to call sunwing and report this has been a huge problem, and nothing can be done. I am so disappointed and I would never recommend any one to use Sunwing. With all the delays and stolen items we got nothing from sunwing…..

Never fly with Sunwings. Delays. Lost luggage. Luggage not delivered for two weeks. Noone answers phone calls or e-mails. Refusal to pay compensation. Seems that no Canadian law applies to this company. Are there any laws to protect the consumer?

Feb 8th 1635 Flight out of Ottawa delayed because two flight attendants walked off the plane citing they didn't feel safe taking off in snowy weather. Yet every other flight took off with out issues. This one act has delayed subsequent flights for 12-14 hrs as Sunwing struggles to find replacement Flight attendants and work around crew hours. They ended up reassigning a plane from Halifax to the veradero route. My flight was one of the subsequent flights. Instead of taking off at 1715 Feb 9 we are now delayed until 0350 feb 10. The only response from Sunwing was that there is a delay. What they don't know is I have a friend who works at Sunwing and told me the whole insider story. Never again.

We flew with Sunwings to Cuba over Christmas. On the return flight to Edmonton Sunwings allowed a number of very drunk passengers to board. We were subjected to crude, offensive language and threats of physical violence from one of them, because we asked him to be quiet. (Wehad a late-night flight.) We asked to be moved, as there were spare seats, but were told that we would disturb sleeping passengers. Sunwings has a legal responsibility to ensure that flights are operated safely. If there had been an emergency, at least one of the passengers would have been unable to walk. Sunwings has refused to address our complaint and does not seem at all concerned by the safety issue. A horrible end to our holiday, spent waiting for the passengers behind us to cause further trouble. NEVER AGAIN!

Travelled to Cuba Jan 18th-26th fr om Calgary. The holiday overall great however upset four people assigned 4 exit seats in row 15 without paying for the additional fees. Tried contacting Sunwing but getting run around and automated email responses. On flight 654 from Calgary people at the rear of the aircraft were over served alcoholic beverages wh ere people in the middle of the aircraft was offered no coffee of alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages during the 5 1/2 hour flight. SungWing - one word terrible. We got to Jamaica on time but upon arriving to the airport to come home, we were told upon check in that there was a 12 hr delay as the crew was out of hours and needed sleep. They shipped 200+ passengers to another hotel, where that was another nightmare some people waiting in line 4 hours to find out there were no rooms left. We were told flight would be leaving between 7 and 8 am the next day (original time was 4:55pm the previuos day) but could not get an exact time. arrived at the airort at 4:00 am to find out at 7:10am flight was again delayed till 10:30 am. When I asked the lady at the boarding gate what the problem was she replied - the crew has not shown up so the airport was giving the crew 3 hours and if they still did not show up it would be delayed again.... so not only were we delayed once the crew obviously had a good night and decided to show up at their convenience. --- Wish my job let me walk in whenevr i felt like it.

The plane on return was newer and had much more leg room!Excursion we booked thru hotel rep.did not turn out well!We were basically left for about 45 mins!Tour staff were argumentative and rude!Everything was our fault!Hotel reps were not of much help! Not sure if we will fly with this airline again!

I have ony flown with Sunwing once, the flight was no better or worse than any other, The touch with champagne and towel is a nice one gets you in the holiday mood. my one complaint is that we flew from Montreal and although both my husband and I speak french we are not what you might call fluent. The reps both on the coach and at the hotel only spoke french, plus as I found out day 3 of the holiday the wrist band we received told the staff we were french speaking so had spent 3 days wondering why all the staff spoke french to us:) . before anyone says anything I know I should improve my french being from a bilingual country but it would ahve been nice to have a rep that could do the same.

We have flown Sunwing at least 15 times now. Yes, they started off rocky and we did have some delay issues, but overall, the past few years have been very good. They are very forthcoming on their website on what the pitch of their seats are. People have the information to view and make their deciisions to fly with sunwing or not. Instead, most people tend to get on here and cherp about how cramped they were during their flight. The choice to upgrade is always available. Not quite sure why people also are blaming the airline (Sunwing or any of them) for delays due to weather. Last time I checked, the airlines can't fix the weather or hurry up the delays. If they can't fly, and other airlines can't fly, there will obviously be a shortage on hotel rooms in the area. Lastly, unless you are on first class (any airlines), the food is not going to be fine dining. Eat before you get on or bring something from inside the airport. Better to know what you are going to eat than to play roulette with airline food. Just my opinion!

Awful experience (too much detail)and very poor communication from Sunwing. We were supposed to leave Montreal at 4PM going to Santa Clara, Cuba on Dec. 27, '12. There was a snow storm that caused flight delays. However, all flights from other companies going south eventually left - except two Sunwing flights (including ours) because they didn't have enough crew members! While we were first told that if the flights were to be cancelled, we would get free hotel rooms, shuttle to the hotels, wake-up calls, etc., only 30 rooms were made available (for two flights) - and the hotels were not even notified that passengers were coming! No shuttle were provided! We were finally informed after midnight that the flights were postponed to the next morning (which flights were also delayed). Strange fact: Sunwings' automated phone lines indicated hours before that our flight would be postponed to the next day, but Sunwing's staff kept us waiting - some of us with small children. We returned home with our luggage (got back at around 2 AM) and returned to the airport at around 7:30 AM. We finally left around 12:30 PM on Dec. 28. In the end, we lost our first day, and the second was pretty much wasted because we were so tired. Of course, the return flight on Jan. 3 was also delayed. Sunwing did express its regrets and offered each passenger.... a $100 rebate on a next trip with Sunwing (to be used within 12 months, cannot be combined with any other promotion, ...). A slap in the face would have been less insulting. Passengers were furious. Watch for potential class action against Sunwing.

No westjet vacations is bad. I booked 2 week trip for 2 going to punta Cana. When we got to hotel they told us there was no room available because westjet often overbooks vacations but only has a certain block of rooms book at hotel. We got sent to a dump with only an a la carte and Spanish teenagers everywhere. Top it off west jet wouldn't answer phone and rep was French or Spanish speaking only who never showed up when agreed. I have flown sun wing 3 times now and no issues. I really believe its just the luck we get. Mary : Pay a few hundred dollars more and use West Jet Or Air Canada Vacations. This company has no customer relations office, if you have a problem with anything you will not be assisted or shown any compassion even if it is a medical emergency. Shame on Sunwing!

Small cramped little plane, no leg room if you are over 5'3". food is terrible, on an 8 hour flight we got served a small plastic ommlet at 9 am and nothing more. our flight landed at 5:35 p.m. and there was not even food available for purchase. Staff was crabby and you nearly had to beg for water. Never, never again

I have flown Sunwing twice with no issues. Yes the plane is awfully small and cramped. I am 6 feet and was uncomfortable. The staff was friendly and there was lots to eat and drink and a movie. The champagne was a tiny glass, hot towel is a large warm wet nap. Both times I got stuck next to overweight people and kindly told them to move over as they couldn't fit in their seat and tried to steal some of my room. No problems. West jet I had major problems. I got to resort in Dominican and there was no more rooms left when I book 8 months before and was all inclusive. Got shipped to a dump 30 minutes away and had to taxi 13$ each way to meet up with party at booked hotel. Day 5 finally got a room for the duration of our 2 week trip. West jet will never get a dime from me again.

FINALLY, your company came up with ways to make travelling a lot nicer and faster. Your rep at the Rui Santa Fe in Los Cobos checked our ID and handed out the room keys, baggage numbers and towel cards before entering the bus to go to the resort and at the resort the rep came on the bus checked our ID once more and fastened our wrist bands on. Fast, easy and no long line up at desk. Also, your airline rep went through all the questions on the papers we had to fill out when travelling and everyone could follow the directions and get them filled out properly. Thank you to your airline, your the best.

Guest : Sunwing has to PAY you 50 peso PER DAY PER LOST LUGGAGE, Get on there asses, demand it We went to Cuba direct flight from Edmonton to Santa-Clara. They lost one of the bags with my daughter's and my mother's in law clothes . Filled up lost luggage form in Santa Clara airport, there was nobody from Sunwing to talk to. After customs we talk to Sunwing representative outside and he assured us that they will call Sunwing office in Canada and try to check for our bag. After we arrived to our hotel we called contact number for sunwing and was assured that they are on it and Sunwing in Canada will look into it first thing in the morning. In the morning talk to the 4th SunWing rep he told us yes they called Canadian office and they are trying to locate the bag. During the following 6 days we was checking with 4th representative in our hotel and he was assuring us that Sunwing in Canada looking for our bag and will send it in with the nextflight to Varadero, Havana or Santa Clara. Bag wasnt found and we flew back without it. We thought it is Christmas and maybe some poor Cubans “borrowed” it for their kids, well, we were ok with it. Now, when we come back to Edmonton we did find out that our bag flew to Cuba and back and now it is in Calgary. And Sunwing in Canada find out that it was lost only after we told them. When I start asking Sunwing rep to explaint how the 4 Sunwing employees told me Sunwing is looking for the bag and he is telling me it is not his job and he didn’t care. He even offered me to throw me to the cold room when I told hime that im paying his salary and he can go return his paycheck ang go push the laggage carts if he has no idea about customer service and didn’t care about company he works for. Now we was in Cuba for 7day + 1 hr ( +2hrsbecause plane was late) but instead of paying 50 CUC per 24hrs per Sunwing policy rep told we will be paid only for 6 days. Because I guess to get paid for 7th day we will need to come next morning . There were 2 other couples who lost all of the bags. Looks like Sunwing cares about getting your money so their VPs can get bonuses and after you are on your own. If start complaining about it they don’t like it to be loud and if you are loud they will like to see you in the cold room.

I express my view in Sunwing (Skytrak) official review site..To my surprise .Wasn't ....accepted. In my view wasn't bad ...simply HONEST. That is the copy unaccepted review.....Shame....-- Thank you for your submission. The comments are not suitable for posting in their present format, and do not meet review criteria standards you will have seen on the website. Kind regards, Web Support SKYTRAX www.airlinequality.com/ Sunwing Airlines We just came from Cancun yesterday after one week in Riu Palace Peninsula. Flight ....wellll.... Champagne flight ...maybe.... not quite, but wasn't that bad. Start and landing...They got very professional PILOTS...perfect starts and landings ...bravo!!!! and thank YOU GUYS. Service at the plain...We don't complain too much either, except one thing..My wife have (celiac disease ) or.....she is gluten and also lactose intolerant (very severe case). Our agent and myself call to Sunwing office to arrange meals to suits her needs...ironically she got of course meal...well....two meals ..one gluten ,and one lactose free...Funny...no,!!! if somebody knows what I'm talking about...Can't eat either of them,as a result she have to eat whatever she got on her own. Sunwing representatives in Mexico ? not the top notch ,but not that bad...is always room for improvement ,as of any of us.I thing miscommunications is the major thing in any industry. Most peoples pay the minimum service possible, but expecting really CHAMPAGNE service....sorry doesn't work that way. If you wish to speak to someone, forget; there is nobody home. It has been for me the most disastrous trip experience of my life.

Dec 16 2012 If you’re thinking of flying with Sunwing because their vacations are cheap think again. My daughter wanted to do a destination wedding using Sunwing as the facilitator. Well that was the first big mistake. The destination was Cancun departing from Edmonton, the wedding party was a group of 30 people. All had paid for each of their respective vacation packages and it all starts to get crazy upon arrival at the airport. Two of the group weren’t even listed as passengers so no seats assigned. When we reached our hotel in Cancun, Sunwing failed to provide proper documentation to the hotel so some guests didn’t show up on hotel guest list so no rooms were assigned (there was no documentation indicating that the rooms were paid for), to the credit of the hotel, once our party presented itinerary sheets they made every effort to accommodate our group, but not without a lot of confusion, and keys given to rooms who already had people in them. Sunwing was to arrange everything, so when my daughter arrived for her hair appointment on her wedding day, guess what, there was no appointment booked, again to the credit of the staff at the salon they rearranged some appointments and made sure my daughter was taken care of. If you’re thinking of doing some activities in and around Cancun don’t use the Sunwing reps in your hotels lobby, they charge at least 30 to 50% more than any of the vendors that are usally just outside your hotel or at any of the malls that are close by. The Sungwing reps were charging $100.00 + bucks for a day trip to Chichen Itza, and just down the street you could get the same trip for $60.00. The trip home was also an eye opener, I had heard that the employees that work for Sunwing in Cancun typically find ways to charge passengers for overweight luggage, guess what?, it’s true. My son who was leaving Cancun with the same bags he came with was charged $180.00 for being overweight, with no change to what he initially brought and they were trying to charge my daughter for having an extra bag even though you’re allowed 2 pieces of checked in luggage per person. So, to sum up, if you’re planning a vacation or destination wedding using Sunwing please think again. It was a complete gong show, and it will ruin your trip.

I agree with the others, never fly with Sunwing again. Couple of bad experience with them within one year. Delayed for five hours in January, and then moved up four hours of our vacation. Not impressed. We travel at least twice a year, and I too would rather pay extra to go with a more reliable airline.

We purchased a two week all-inclusive package from Montreal to Cancun in October 2012 from Dec 22 to Jan 5th. They just emailed us on Dec 13th to let us know that our resort has changed to “Adults only” and therefore, we have no choice but either go to another resort of their choice (which we checked and was not in the same quality as ours or be refunded! One week before your departure, what can you do?! We are opening a complaint in “Quebec Customer Protection” Assos.

We recently returned from Jamaica with SunWings. We had booked a non stop flight from Montego Bay to Calgary. That didn't happen. The Sun Wings rep at our hotel put his head in the window of our bus as we were leaving the hotel and said "You are going to Toronto". After we checked in at the airport an employee directing the line told us Toronto again When we got to our gate there was confusion between passengers because some had been informed and others were just finding out. After we were boarded the stewardess announced that "due to cross winds the plane was going to Calgary with a stopover Toronto". She was loudly booed by the passengers. I have never experienced any thing like this. She stopped immediately and then the pilots door closed and the curtain was pulled. Nothing for at least ten minutes. A steward announced we were leaving. The pilot later announced there would be a crew change in Toronto and refuelling. Yes we took on a new pilot there and after 3/4 hour he told us he was going to make it up with shortcuts and a 'smooth' flight'. Anything but. There was Turbulence. They proceeded to offer the same meal they had given us earlier. (also the same selections we had going to Jamaica.) People were trying to rest. We got to Calgary about 2:15 not the nonstop time 12:20. This affected all the passengers who had plans in Calgary. Many were going on to their destination of Edmonton. To me the whole experience was appalling. Never Again.

Obviously we should have looked here before booking with Sunwing! All we can do is add to the testimony that their old decepid plans, and the company itself should be avoided - at any cost! Our flight today, originally scheduled to depart for Cancun at 10:50 am, is now rescheduled for the second time to depart at 8:50 pm which will get us to our hotel room at approximately 5:30 am tomorrow - if we are lucky! Originally we would have arrived in time for dinner tonight. If was not mentioned to you, as it was not to us, you can purchase through Sunwing, a $50 any excuse cancellation policy that allows you to cancel up to three hours before departure time. Mind you, it is through Sunwing so good luck with any claim - there is probably extremely fine print disqualifying most claims somewhere in the policy. Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to pay for vacations until you got home and received what was promised? Until that day, BEWARE OF SIGNATURE/SUNWING VACATIONS!!! Insurance or not, we will NEVER book another vacation with this company!!!
