I have also booked extra leg room seats so will see what happens. Has the flight been cancelled or are they just re routing certain passengers to another flight? Small Planet flight from Birmingham to Zante (flight P7641) at 09:30 on Thursday 1st August is apparently smaller than anticipated (usual rubbish seen on here) so we're shifted onto a Thomas Cook 23:25 flight, loosing a day in resort! I asked them to look into two other morning flights I had pre-researched given such an incident, though they were unavailable. Thus, I had no choice but to move to a later flight. Sunmaster - our tour operator - offered £25 per person, though I plan to pursue compensation through Olympic and my personal insurance given this is considered a cancellation and without the 14 days notice they are legally obliged to give. Davo and others - do you have any info about the best line on compensation (my own insurance/Olympic, etc)? Thanks, A

Hi how do you know this I am scheduled for the same flight but a net been given any of this information. I asked them to look into two other morning flights I had pre-researched given such an incident, though they were unavailable. Thus, I had no choice but to move to a later flight. My flight fr om gatwick to Larnaca was cancelled and then rescehuled for 13 hours later. We were not informed of this change by Olympic holidays or Small Planet airlines unlike some of the other passengers on our flight who had been informed and offered some form of comepnsation. Could someone please let me know wh ere I stand in terms of compensation. If I had been informed then I may have cancelled the holiday but we weren't given this option and travelling with a 2 year old is not fun with that long of a delay. The flight was then delayed an additional hour and a bit before actually ataking off so all in all was about 15 hours delay! we lost 2 days of our holiday in the end and I woul also like to be compensated for that aswell. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Gatwick have done everything they can to help but this really is a shockingly awful airline, they have no business being in business! AVOID THEM like the plague. Don't know about Milan, but SamAir B 737 OM-SDA is enroute from Budapest to LGW at present stacking over Tunbridge Wells - guessing this is your aircraft 13:15 Now on finals for landing after Easyjet from Thessaloniki

To any newbs to this (now very long) thread. Welcome to the SPA rant. Airport departure boards are a mine of info- keep watching them- especially for your flight the week before you are due to go. Keep a log of flight numbers if you want (a bit plane spotterish but it helps to get a pattern of duff flights). Gatwick isn't the worst- Birmingham and Manchester paople end up bussed to Gatwick for a variety of flights. Flightradar24.com is really useful for following the flights on the outward flights and then the subsequent return. ....and as far as having no tickets- this seems to be a common thing now!

How do u check flights before travel Guest : We are travelling in 5 weeks. I'm keeping a diary if what happens to our flight and return each week. That way I can sue them if they ruin our holiday. As at 09:36 this morning- Gatwick P7473 due 09:10- departed 09:31 P7487 due 09:55- enquire airline Birmingham P7621 due 08:30- departed 08:23 !!! Manchester P7225 due 08:30 departed 08:45 Pretty good apart from the Heraklion flights (hope you get sorted soon you lot). We're flying Friday and the flight fiasco is escasperated by our lack of tickets- I have NEVER had this much stress over a holiday before- not even camping!!

Who are small planet!!! Flew from Gatwick on sat 20th to Rhodes 21.15 flight. The plane we were on was not a small planet plane, something called grand cru airlines, we only had a half hour delay, so by the sounds of things we were lucky. Non English speaking stewards, no option to purchase anything on board, no air con, no space on seats for anyone taller than 5" We were offered a free cheese and ham toasty and a drink. The plane wasnt just old but ancient and there was a lot of black tape holding the planes interior together!!!. Our return flight sun 28th 4.1am, again should of been small planet but we found ourselvels with a 2hour delay, and boarding the same grand cru plane from the week before, with a bit more black tape than the first journey. Not a pleasent experience. Maybe I should of stuck with Thomas Cook, instead of going with Olympic!!

Having read various bad news stories on Small Planet, i was very nervous about my recent flights to Preveza from Gatwick. However it turned out to be the most efficient flight I have ever experienced. The ground staff and flight crew were great and even confiscated a passengers mobile phone for texting during the safety briefing. The on board cafe food was pretty good and reasonably priced. The efficiency statistics of this airline are actually very good in comparison of the majority of airlines (orbit with a smaller fleet of 14 aircrafts) and as a frequent flier I have many stories of delays/cancellations/diversions with the large carriers.

Already been cancelled off our flight tomorrow from Gatwick to Crete and put on another flight, is anyone else going 09.55 tomorrow morning? The flight is not on the Gatwick website whatsoever and flight trackers can not find the flight number (P7487) can anybody help please! We are really worried!

Guest : * !!!! : Thanks to small planet airline and olypic holidays i am sitting in front of my computer writing and anger fueled review instead of on a flight to aiya napa THANKS FOR DOWNSIZING AND CHUCKING US OFF!!! Prices of that holiday have gone up 300 pounds if we want to go within the next few weeks which we cant afford the extra i have unwanted euros which i am now going to loose money on and all they can give is 30 pounds compensation both olympic an small planet airlines need to be shut down. I wouldnt mind if i wasnt informed 12 hours before i was due to fly!!!!!! Anyone flying with them SHOULD be worried terrified in fact because the fact of the matter is they are unreliable with awful customer service and they really dont give a s*** about whether or not you paid booked months in advance and dont really understand that they have just caused you a ten ton of hassle you didnt need nor want. SO THANKS OLYMPIC AND SMALL PLANET im having a lovely time at HOME!!!!!! Quote fr om EU air passenger rights: "When passengers are denied boarding on a flight, airlines are obliged to first seek volunteers to give up their reservation in exchange for certain benefits. In addition, the air carrier must also offer volunteers the choice between a full refund and re-routing. You may be entitled to compensation of between €125 and €600 depending on the distance of the flight and the delays experienced before being re-routed. Wh ere volunteers choose re-routing, the airline must also provide assistance if necessary, for example - food, access to a telephone, hotel accomodation of one or more nights if necessary and transportation between the airport and the place of accommodation". Could you tell me as i have booked this through olympic holidays should they be the ones to take up the compensation with on my behalf? Or do i contact small planet airliines??

We had booked and paid months in advance, we were packed, i infact was asleep excited and ready for my holiday to start 12 hours later when the lead passenger on our booking calls me, OLYMPIC have told us they are downsizing the plane and there is no room for us!!! This surely can not be correct i said in disbeleif that any package holiday company would and could do that. My emotions got the better of me when trying to call olympic to see what this obserdity was about and as i was struggling to talk my mother took the phone to which the CUSTOMER SERVICE REP informs her i am an adult and she will not speak with anyone except myself even though i had given permission to do so. I wonder that if the holiday was booked for a vulnerable adult they would still REFUSE to speak to anyone on their behalf or if the reasoning behind this was that they did not feel as a person who is extremly upset and considered a young adult i would be able to articulate myself as well as a parent. So i powered through the conversation regardless of the fact that this inconsiderate representative of OLYMPIC holidays had been so rude in the first 2 minutes of our conversation. She continued to tell me we could fly from manchester but we had to make a decision immediatly as there were only 2 seats left on the flight which would allow one for myself and the other person i was flying with. I personally live 6 hours away from manchester and would have had to pay 80 pounds to get a train there last minute to which they offered me 30 pounds compensation to cover that fee or of course we could cancel our holiday all together. After consideration we had no choice but to cancel to which i was hurried with my decison and the rep had become so frustrated in my inability to decide what to do when left with two very undesirable options. After reading reviews the following day it was not just my flight but EVERY flight with olympic that had been 'DOWNSIZED' which can only lead me to beleive that it was not downsized but in fact the OLD OUTDATED UNRELIABLE airline company they use 'small planet airlines' was for some reason unknown to myself not going to fly. Why olympic would use such an unreliable airline is beyond me appart from they wanted to cut costs for themselves. I was never given a real reason for the cancelation of my holiday except for downsizing a plane which there again was no reason for this either as far as i am aware, and the other reason given was meerly a statement that it was the beggining of the school holidays, which is not an excuse as we all new it was coming and not exactly what i would call a natural disaster that is out of our hands. SHOCKING is the word i would use for their service they are absolutly ridiculous to every extent and should not be allowed to continue on as a company, in my opinion olympic you should cut your losses as you are not providing a service to anyone. TO TOP IT OFF, olympic had the cheek to call the lead passenger a few days later as ask if we would like to book another holiday ARE YOU JOKING? after all that we have had to deal with over the past 3 days the last thing we will be doing is booking again with OLYMPIC. I have rated you 1 star only because it was a required field, however in my opinion 1 star is even far to generous!

Guest : Anyone flying on a Friday to Skiathos from Gatwick (or done so recently)? We are supposed to be getting a ferry to Alonissos after but am now seriously worried that we won't make the connection and we are only going for 1 week. Has anyone done this trip this summer? We were scheduled to fly from Birmingham to Skiathos with Olympic/Small Planet on the 19th July. The flight was cancelled and we were bused out to Gatwick for a flight the next day (after a day kicking our heels in an airport hotel). As far as I know, we should qualify for compensation but whether such a tuppeny-hapenny outfit will ever pay out is anyone's guess. I have applied anyway and we'll see what happens. I would suggest that anyone travelling with them should expect delays, messing about and lost holiday days.

We booked a flight to larnaca and ended up having both flights cancels at the last minute, we ended up flying to pafthos instead and being transferred by taxi to larnaca, on our return flight I checked 2 days running that the flight was still scheduled. When we got to the airport it was cancelled and we'd been shunted to a different airline 2 hours later. Good luck, but expect problems. Good company olympic holidays are its slight shame about the flights but al in all I flew on small planet and it was good plane left on time. Last time I flw with monarch and was delayed 18hrs. If you cant handle delays or changes fly scheduled or accept what u get I guess.

[It left at 9:45 - and the return flight arrived back at Gatwick (P7422] at 17:34 so less than an hours delay from scheduled departure time both ways - they haven't had any long delays on the five flights leaving Gatwick today as I'm monitoring them - should I need evidence for compensation in 6 weeks time lol. I have just come back from Rhodes on Small Planet. Absolutely no problems on both legs. Both aircraft left on time with very helpful and friendly cabin crew. Flight was smooth and having read the reviews on this forum I was pleasantly surprised. Well done Small Planet on a job well done.
